Sushi Shin offers a quiet escape from the crowd and noise of Nishiki Market with its delicious and simple sushi omakase. Definitely recommend this place for clean flavor and buttery sushi for a reasonable price.

Food: We ordered a 10-piece sushi omakase each that was prepared with care by chef. The meal came with miso-soup, tofu appetizer, and roe appetizer. Sushi was buttery, and pieces were generous in size, and the taro did not disappoint

Service: Staff was welcoming and friendly to foreigners and spoke limited English.

Atmosphere: Typical size sushi restaurant with 8-10 counter seated bar. A quiet ambiance and all guests were respectful of that, and conversed quietly. You won’t even notice the noise from Nishiki Market.

A few things to know: There is an English menu. Credit cards are accepted at the time of this review. Recommend coming in for lunch; Heard the place can get crowded during dinner time. We arrived around 11:40AM on a Tuesday and there...

I left this experience with tears in my eyes. Partly because the chef & his su offered us hand warmers and watched us leave with such warmth & care, and mostly because the food and experience felt like a once in a life time opportunity. Unexpectedly, we have the entire service to ourselves. I joked when we first arrived that we had a private seating, then realised that was the truth after seeing only 2 placemats set. It’s a quieter time of the year - late Jan on a weeknight. The squid nigiri was a perfect start to the omakase, followed by an array of exquisite, perfectly prepared dishes. A personal favourite was the swordfish with miso pickled cheese - a mouthful I’ve never imagined could be so delicate and explosive. My partner was astounded by the wagyu beef prepared in the shabu-shabu. We had lots of questions which the chef was more than willing to answer!

We sunk bd back to experience this again as soon...

Good but not exceptional food, let down by overpricing, painfully slow service and staff bordering on rude. Restaurant is small but looks good - modern chic, all customers sit at the chef's table. One waiter serving the entire restaurant meant slow service. Two sushi chef were painfully slow - I was served 8 sushi over 70 minutes. So slow that we ended up wolfing each as it arrived. Chef missed one course entirely - when he realised, he said it was because they had run out of that fish. We assumed he would substitute, but after finishing the other courses, he then insisted we had been given the missing dish. He also declined to provide us with soya sauce or extra wasabi, because "he had already added enough". What an arrogant way to treat customers! And it's expensive - we paid 25,000 JPM for 2 tasting menu and a couple of a la carte, and a couple of small beers. And we were still hungry....

My wife made a reservation through AutoReserve the day before the omakase dinner we were hoping to experience, but we never received any confirmation or acceptance of our request. AutoReserve charged us for the entire amount despite stating in their policy that we would not be charged unless the reservation was accepted. We tried to reach out to AutoReserve and Nishiki via phone, email, and Instagram with no response. Calling Nishiki was a complete waste of time. The phone just rang and rang with no answer. Why are we being punished for using the reservation system that Nishiki instructed us to use on both Google and Instagram? We have yet to receive a refund. My two cents, don’t waste your time using any of the reservation systems that Nishiki Sushi Shin. Maybe you’ll have better luck going there in person? Or maybe you’ll have better luck going somewhere else altogether.
