Tenneiji — Local services in Kyoto

Built on Teramachi street just within a block south from Kuramaguchi street offers a picturesque view of Mt. Hiei ( The 2nd highest mountain next to Mt. Atago ) toward east as if it is in the frame of the front temple gate. This is how this gate has been called " Gakubuchi Mon = Frame Gate ". It is also known as a place of a grave yard of old-time Japanese tea master Sowa Kanamori of Edo period. Tenneiji is the 1st temple on teramachi street on the northen part. 2023年4月9日に参拝しました。 寺町通り沿いにある「額縁門」が有名な寺院です。 山門を通して比叡山を眺めると、あたかも額に入った絵画のように見えます。参拝時は天気も良く、きれいな額縁門を堪能することができました。 非公開寺院ですが、山門をくぐって境内(お庭)を拝見することができ、もう少し早い訪問であれば、桜も満開だったと思います。 境内は綺麗に整備されており、とても気持ちが良いです。 また、ちょっと変わった石灯籠があります。中国の古事にちなんだ天下泰平の象徴である...
