Aoyama Cemetery — Local services in Tokyo

What seems like a strange location for visitors is a gem of a location in the backyard of Omotesando. And this is especially true during the bountiful bloom of Hanami or the ambrosial beauty of Fall. I only ever come here early hours of the am and it is always peaceful.

The central spine of the cemetery is lined with a military like parade of Sakura trees and they are a worthy front row to the beauty of the national Japanese flower. Stay a while, enjoy the breeze and the Sakura snow or potter around to pay respects to its famous inhabitants, or even have a picnic and beer Japanese style on a tarpaulin in a cozy corner under the trees. A delightful surprise when we arrived in Tokyo and went for a stroll. We weren't sure if the cherry blossom was blooming or that this moment had already passed because of the reports we saw online. But when we turned the corner we were in for a lovely surprise! Two long rows of blossom in almost full bloom! And other trees scattered around the cemetery as well. A quiet and peaceful cemetery and pretty much no other tourists around. A great start to our Japan itinerary...

Suggest a walk and perspective on Tokyo, and Japan, in this cemetery. Most graves well kept, but some not, and it depends on family visits I guess. Many graves are very old, the cherry or other trees too. It is not small. Literally small public streets inside where taxis or traffic enters.
