FL!P is an incredibly worthwhile tour that brings Tokyo's hidden gems to you. Instead of getting stuck in the tourist trap restaurants and bars, FL!P takes you to the narrow streets to the spots the locals love.

In one night, I sampled Okinawan cuisine, Italian-Japanese fusion, and traditional Japanese food, along with some fine local whisky and delicious cakes at 3 restaurants and a nightclub in the company of 10 friendly young professionals. About half were locals, a few Japanese, and we all had great conversations. Everyone in our group spoke English, though the places we went to didn't have hardly any foreigners or even English menus.

Venese and Belle were outstanding, welcoming guides who took care of us very well. They were fun and sociable yet professional and respectful, and happy to answer any questions about Japanese culture.

The Okinawan bitter melon tofu dish followed by fresh fish linguine in a cream sauce and Japanese whisky were an unforgettable palatable delight that I will not find elsewhere. The nightclub had some entertaining shows, including talented dancers and a bartender that juggled liquor bottles and served drinks in a sort of Benihana's style that only the Japanese could master.

Had a real quality experience with Flip Japan Tours for the land portion of our amazing Japan trip. After an 18 day cruise of Alaska and nine of the less visited Japanese ports we were looking for some structure that would allow us to see as much as possible in only a combined six nights in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hakone. The dynamic young team at Flip provided that with some really exciting quality tours, including making our own Japanese knives in the shop with guidance of an expert craftsman, getting fitted for kimonos for an authentic tea ceremony, a food tour of Osaka, an electrifying couple of days in Tokyo among the crush of humanity that overloads the senses, exhausts but exhilarates at the same time. Thank you very much to expert guides Laura, Faris and the very kind driver Satoshi who helped us through the chaos. Thanks too to Venese, who led the planning of those days. Flip is a small boutique agency that can get very busy, so we wondered pre-trip whether they were all in for us as a few times it took a bit of time for them to get back to us, but the quality on the ground in Japan was excellent and I think this agency of energetic people will only continue to get better and better....
