OKURA Ueno Okachimachi — Local services in Tokyo

This is the long a$$ review so brace yourselves :-)

I love Okura and the Rolex Daytona panda which I recently acquired from Okura’s Ueno Store. Shout out to Mr. Kengo Takahashi (Mr. T)!

For starters, upon research I am confident to say that Japan currently has the best price for high-end timepieces, hence my thanks to Watch-God (if there’s one lol) and that lovely JPY/USD currency exchange rate. Japan’s unmatchable wide selections and its tax-free policy gave advantages to tourists. Japan's merchants are honest and its below-the-market price is second to none.

My watch begins with the initial visits to Okura stores in Ginza (I believe this is the main store as I stayed in a hotel nearby) and Shinjuku. Mr. Yasuyuki Ishikawa in the Okura Shinjuku store relentlessly searched and found the watch then directed me to Mr. Kengo Takahashi (Mr. T) in their Ueno location.

Upon my arrival at the Okura store in Ueno, Mr. T immediately introduced himself as the store owner/manager (without knowing I was the referred buyer). He has everything ready to go, he stated he is also a YouTuber and showed us a few intriguing clips. Mr. T was kind, polite, patient and well-knowledged. His excellent service and professionalism (verifying the serial number on the card/watch and performing all the necessities etc) made my wife and I feel at home.

According to this watch’s official Rolex warranty / ID card, it was purchased from Ginza Six, a well-known Rolex Authorized Dealer in Ginza which is a huge power-up for authenticity reassurance.

My watch was rated in “A Condition” [see "Exhibit A”] which means “worn with light signs of wear or scratches (never polished)”, however, my watch is more likely in a superior “S condition” which is “worn with little or no signs of wear” upon my inspection so kudos to Mr. T and Okura.

Mr. T had done everything he could to ensure our satisfaction as well as answering all questions. All original Rolex cards, brochures and documents were well presented. Mr. T provided an extra factory Rolex box as a gift as this deal did not come with a box which I wasn't aware of in the first place. Even though this watch still carries the remainder of Rolex’s 5-year factory warranty; Mr. T issued me an additional company warranty card which provides a 12-month conditional warranty by Okura.

So the purchase has been executed! Now here comes the fun part, it’s “Strike-A-Pose-Time Yo!” [*Please direct your attention to the attached "Exhibit B” as we demonstrate homies representin' da hood n we don’t mess around~]

This is my first Rolex which was not purchased from a non-authorized Rolex dealers hence I was skeptical and had to be extra cautious. Fortunately, Okura came to my aid and everything turned out splendidly. My local authorized Rolex service center has then verified the 100% authenticity of this Daytona.

As for the price, I’ve compared Okura with at least 35+ other second-hand watch stores in Osaka & Tokyo and Okura came out to be the best IMHO. ( Yep.. you read that correctly @ Thirty-Five-Plus stores, well you see my wife and I intended to get our daily 25k+ steps by walking around town to keep fit... So kindly see "Exhibit C” to check out my near-perfect figure & the pectoralis majors Ha~Ha! )

We are going to Japan in a couple of months and we will be sure to visit Okura again.

In conclusion, I am pleased with Okura. If you ever plan to purchase timepieces in Japan, do feel free & confident to visit Okura, you will not be disappointed.
