In the additional notes section for my online order I asked them to include any stickers they had and they actually did it! It was a nice gesture from them.
I don't know what Japanese residents think of how Record City compares to other vendors or if it's considered more on the expensive side (to me, it certainly seemed comparable to other places like RECOfan, Disk Union, etc), but I am very thankful that such a service exists and ships worldwide. I've only been to Japan once and while I bought a ton of records then, I now regret not buying more. There are hardly any stores selling the Kayokyoku and City Pop records I'd love to splurge on here in the United States! Since a place like this exists I've been able to satisfy my cravings.
They have a very wide selection too! I was able to find records that I couldn't find on Discogs. Though it won't have everything (the most popular ones tend to run out and some obscure artists don't exist), it's easy to find records from artists who aren't super popular but aren't quite forgettable either. That's what seems to specialize in - the median.
Anyways, great thank you to...
Read moreI’ve been ordering from Record City Japan regularly—usually once a month for the past two years—and they’ve become my favorite online record store. Their selection of used and new vinyl is outstanding, especially for jazz collectors. They carry a wide range of Japanese and U.S. pressings, and the condition is almost always better than described. Their grading is conservative—many records arrive a full grade better than listed.
Shipping and packaging are top-notch. I use FedEx Express Worldwide, and records usually arrive in Edmonton within 3–4 business days. Everything is packed with care—LPs are shipped outside of both inner and outer sleeves. On the rare occasion of a delay or issue, their communication has been excellent.
Customer service is responsive and helpful. They’ve gladly provided additional photos and clarified listings when needed. Their prices are extremely fair—often better than Discogs, eBay, or North American stores—and I’ve scored rare pressings in great condition for less than market average.
The website is easy to navigate, with multi-language support and currency options. Extras like obi strips, posters, and inserts are always clearly listed, and sometimes I’ve received more than expected.
Note: due to high turnover, pressing details (country/year) aren’t always guaranteed. It’s best to check listing photos closely. But this often works in your favor—I’ve received older and rarer pressings mislabeled as newer ones.
I highly recommend Record City Japan to collectors worldwide. Their quality, service, prices, and constantly refreshed inventory make them the best in the business.
