Poppo-an — Local services in Yufu

We booked the hot spring hotel comparatively late due to Sakura season and most of them hotel near the shops and lake are either fully booked or only those expensive one are left. We are fortunately be able to book this ryokan through its own website and the price is not high compare to other hotel. Perhaps because it is not near the lake or the shops, it is lower than other hot spring hotel.||Though it is cheaper, it doesn't mean it is not good. On the contrary, you will have a different feeling in staying here. It is facing in front of a big field which you found it relax and a lot of greenery. You will see the train going through the field but is it not noisy. ||There is in room private hot spring. There is also a private open air hot spring. You just go in and shut the door, put the sign outside and it becomes a private one. No extra charge. It is very cool to have private hot spring with the price of the room you paid.||The meals are in the private dining room which is also a cool one. The food is good.||This place is not like those large scale hot spring hotel but a small ryokan. You will find it enjoyable staying here and feel like going back to the nature because the hotel is like a house in a field than a large hotel. The private hot spring, the view, the service and the food are all good. ||You can call for a pick up service from 3-5pm only. It will cost yen640 by cab (not change in meter). About 5 minutes from the JR station. You can walk down to the JR and will take about 15 minutes.||There are only a few rooms to book so you need to be fast if you want to book a room. With so many hotspring ryokans in Yufuin, it really took me quite some time to choose and at last I booked Poppoan after reading a few blog articles recommending it. It is just a ryokan with 4 rooms, so it gave, at least during my stay, a very quiet and peaceful feeling to me and my husband. Room was tidy with nice view overlooking the rice field, and I have chosen to live in a room with private onsen, which I think was a very good choice. Both dinner and breakfast served was delicious, and we were arranged to enjoy the meals in another private nice room. It was a bit far from Yufuin JR station but pick up service was provided. ||||Its price was in the middle range when compared with other ryokans in Yufuin, and considering its food, room with private onsen, location, the feeling of quiteness and privacy, I would rate it as...

If you want a completely relaxed journey, and you very like independent place, Poppo-an absolutely ideal choice. ||But for foreigners who can't speak Japanese, I'm not sure it is the good choice.
