The hotel is an easy 7 min walk from the train station. In fact, the entire Yufuin town is so small that one can walk and tour around it in around 2 hours. One can also borrow bicycles from the train station.||||I picked the Sakura room which offered private toilet and onsen. It allowed me to enjoy the onsen whenever I wish. The room was big and was in traditional Japanese style- with tatami and low tables. Tea leaves were provided and I could make tea from the exquisite teapot. There was even wagashi (Japanese confectionery) to go with the tea!||||I booked a night with two meals (dinner and breakfast). The elaborate 10-course dinner was wonderful- the main course, chicken hotpot, may sound simple, yet the meat was extremely fresh. It is not an exaggeration to say that it was the best chicken I tasted ever.||||Breakfast was equally good. As other reviews here suggested, the portion was extremely generous to make sure guests leave with a full stomach and a happy face.||||The only downside of the room was that the roof of the onsen area was made of iron sheet. As it rained heavily on the night I stayed, the rain hit hard against the roof. It got so noisy that it was impossible for me to fall asleep. On a dry night, I assume the sleep quality would be...
Read moreWe found this place by chance from a JTB travel guide when looking for a place to stay and enjoy the hot springs in Kyushu. The tatami room we stayed in was large and quite comfortable. The place has three onsen of which only one is an outside rotenburo. The other two are indoors. What makes this place special is that you have any one of the onsen pools for yourself or your family just by going into a vacant one and locking the door behind you. Then a signboard in the corridors shows that the particular onsen room is occupied. I recommend that you try to get the outdoor rotenburo, as it is the nicest. The other two are quite regular ofuro-type indoor pools, one largr and the other quite small. ||The free wifi system is a bit antiquated. Its range is limted to the lobby area and you have to search for a special SSID name.||The railroad track runs very close to the hotel. If you are a light sleeper you may get a bit annoyed. However, the trains don't run between midnight and 6 a.m.||We had a breakfast in the dining room. It was quite hearty consisting of various Japanese tidbits and a large bowl of miso soup filled with meats and other stuff. The staff were...
Read moreThe property name is actually Iyotomi. ||The owners and their staffs are very friendly and always smiling. They made the stay wonderful. ||Iyotomi is fairly near the bus/train station. We arrived on a rainy day. with luggage and umbrella, it took us slightly more than 10min to get to there. ||We had a tatami room, spacious and clean, with attached toilet and wash basin. we did not opt for the ones with attached onsen, as there were 3 onsens on the ground floor for use. As stated by other reviewers, once you lock the door, it actually becomes your "private onsen". The water temperature was good and it definitely relaxes the muscles tired from walking around this lovely town.||The dinner and breakfast were so good, we would have stayed longer just for the food! The spread was very generous and tasty, presentation was beautiful and I really think that they are spoiling the guests by feeding us so very well!||Do visit Yufuin as it is a quaint little town, and if you do, stay...
