Oh, let me tell you about the most incredible cavern dive experience I recently had! From the moment I decided to embark on this thrilling adventure, everything fell into place seamlessly. I can't help but gush about the flawless organization, ease of setup, and the genuinely warm and accommodating nature of everyone involved.

Setting up the cavern dive was an absolute breeze. The process of calling and setting up was super seamless. I called the ProTec shop and was set up with Toro to organize the dives. We spoke over the phone and made clear all of my questions and details about was needed for the cavern dives. The booking swas incredibly convenient, allowing me to select the date and time that suited me best.

Upon arriving at the dive center, I was immediately impressed by the friendly and professional staff. Marc was my guide for the first day. Marc has genuine passion for diving and a commitment to ensuring a remarkable experience for wonderful dive. We checked everything was correct with the gear gathered our things and headed to the local market to get some lunch for the surface intervals. Then we were on our way to cenote "Dos Ojos". During the ride, we got talking about the dive. Marc took the time to answer all of my questions, offering helpful insights and advice, which made me feel at ease and excited for what lay ahead. Marc also shared about his experience and passion for diving and how he got involved with ProTec.

Once at the site, Marc explained the dive plan thoroughly, emphasizing safety protocols while sharing interesting facts about the unique geological formations we would encounter. First we performed a bouncy check and made sure my equipment was ok. We performed our buddy checks and started the dive in the Bat Cave line. As we ventured into the cavern, I was awestruck by the breathtaking beauty that unfolded before my eyes. Crystal-clear waters, mesmerizing formations, and an ethereal play of light created an otherworldly atmosphere that left me spellbound. The second dive was at the Barbie line. Marc was exceptional and his expertise and passion really showed. His attention detail and dedication really enhanced the whole experience. When you looked at Marc's trim, posture and skills it really inspired me to become a better diver and perform at my best.

The second day , I dove with Steve. We went to cenote Ponderosa and had a wonderful experience. On the way to the dive site, we spoke about his experience diving and gave me great advice. At Ponderosa, he showed me site and did our briefing. He made sure I understood the peculiarities of the site and went through everything I needed to know and what we could look forward to. The dive was exceptional filled with wonderful moments and surprises around every turn. We saw some huge passages and incredible openings and experienced the halocline and all the amazing visual effects it creates. Later, we had a great lunch surrounded by nature and then proceeded to dive in Tajma ha. Steve skillfully guided me through the passages, showcasing me the different cenotes that go through the line, cenote Sugar Bowl, cenote Esmeralda and two small centotes that look like square eyes with the light shining from above. Steve fostered a sense of camaraderie, sharing stories and creating lasting memories.

In conclusion, my cavern dive experience was an absolute delight, thanks to ProTec seamless organization and the incredibly accommodating and friendly staff. The ease of setup, the expertise of the dive instructors, and the warmth exuded by every team member truly set this adventure apart. My boyfriend and I just completed two days of guided cavern diving with Elliott at ProTec. The experience far exceeded our expectations both in the spectacular nature of cenote diving and the high quality of the guiding!

PRE-TRIP COMMUNICATION: The team was highly responsive to all of the emails we sent inquiring about what cavern diving options there were for people with our skill level (we are new to the sport and had 21 dives each with our NAUI OW and AOW certifications), what gear we were bringing, what we could expect, and what time we should meet at the shop.

THE DIVING: Each dive included a very thorough briefing regarding the hazards of the dive, the route, what we could expect, and a review of the hand and light signals we would use. This was super helpful as we’d never gone diving in overhead environments before. On the first day, Elliott took us on two dives and assessed our skill level to determine where we would dive on the 2nd day. It was incredible and magical to see the light filtering in, see bats in the bat cave, fossils, and the variety of landscapes underwater.

THE GUIDING: ProTec specializes in training people to become cave divers and this shone through in our tour experience. Elliott is passionate about cave diving and ensured that we had a safe and fun dive while being respectful of the environment. He was very thorough and observant and gave us a lot of tips to help us level up on our scuba skills as new divers. He also gave us the names of some tasty restaurants to try out that were excellent!

We enthusiastically recommend diving with ProTec if you want to explore the cenotes with cave diving specialists! We had such an excellent time that we want to return after further improving our buoyancy and finning techniques to do the sidemount and the intro to cave...

We used Protec for some guided cavern dives and we were over the moon with their service. First of all, we are reasonably experienced recreational divers but our experience in overhead environment was very limited. Also we are very safety oriented and we wanted to make sure we were accompanied by people whose main business is in caves and caverns. Having a thorough briefing and making sure we were in good hands was very important for us. During our stay with Protec we had three different guides (Kudos to Maria, Tamara and Marc!) and we enjoyed all of them very much. It was good to have different perspectives and different tips. The cenotes they took us to were amazing. We visited Dos Ojos, Ponderosa, Tajma Ha and we went twice to Cenote Dreamgate, which was probably our favorite. During these various dives we witnessed other groups with not so great situations and we were very happy to be there with very experienced guides.

The Protec operation is well o organized and everyone makes us feel welcome and cared for. Nestor at the PDC reception is also an amazing host, going above and beyond to help us with everything.
