St. Juraj Church

You'll see St John if you take the FREE way to get to the top of Kotor Fortress. It's north of the city walls and up the switchbacks you can see lined out in GMaps. Save yourself 8 euros!!

If you go the free route, go in the morning so there is shade from the mountain. It's just switchbacks of rocky footpath so make sure to wear good shoes. You'll meet a few locals, and try to enjoy their homemade rakia or treats! I saw a donkey, cat and a cow while visiting and it was an awesome experience than the dilapidated stairs...

Walk up the back way ladder of kotor , hardly any tourists . We did it in the morning before it got to hot. The walk is easy as you go up very gradually & walk along switch backs. The church & surrounding area is lovely & gets you away from the crowds of the old town . When you have spent time looking around the church , head off & it's a few minutes walk to the cheese stop , great place to stop eat goats cheese & enjoy the views . Good workout, nice views, fun to explore the ruins. It took me 45 mins to get to the top, and I was pushing it, not resting much. apple health app tells me I climbed 83 floors. Don't miss the secret passage that leads to the beautiful valley on the backside of the fort - it's marked with a red circle by the window/ entryway.
