Response on 3 Oct to restaurant’s reply: Owner is totally NOT TELLING THE TRUTH! He wasn’t even present and probably was duped by the waiter who admitted he was on the second day of work (and probably wanted to keep his job by giving a different account of what transpired). If you are considering to patronise this restaurant , just go to tab on the negative reviews of this restaurant which echo our sentiments.
To clarify, we “attempted” to finish our food because we didn’t want to have food waste as they were edible. But being edible doesn’t meant it’s of good quality, we can objectively say that they were still bad and it’s unanimously agreed that it’s the worst meal we had throughout 13 days of our trip. When the waiter asked how the food was, we admittedly said THEY WERE’NT GOOD and waiter just shrugged his shoulders the first time and didn’t attempt to do any customer recovery as if the question didn’t matter . The two fish dishes tasted like they were frozen foods (yes, we tried each others dishes, we were being fair), simply not fresh catches of the day. It’s worse than what we can buy from supermarkets in our home country. The tomato stew from the shellfish dish tasted like pre-mix, definitely not broth cooked from scratch , let alone worth the price tag. We had so much risotto during the travel and that was just soggy rice we tasted from this establishment . To make it worse, the foods all arrived lukewarm, which was meh. We wouldn’t expect more if not for the price tag, so avoid this restaurant at all cost!!
The waiter who was on duty at 330pm on 2 Oct Tue, couldn’t name the dish we tried to enquire when we showed images on Google review (which revealed his“professionalism”), and when we asked if the pork with beer was recommended , he gave a face and said it was ok. But we knew it was a blatant lie when he stupidly admitted later that it was his second day of work and he only tried THREE DISHES before ( and the pork was not a highlight dish , so why would he try right ?).
I never write bad reviews before but it was compelling for me to do so cos this was the most unpleasant experience for us this trip. TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK.⚠️
Review on 2 Oct: The food were all so bad that each of the 6 of us didn’t finish our own mains, and left without eating the 2 tiramisu and apple crisp we ordered (and paid for) cos the quality of the food was simply not worth our calories.
Food ordered: minestrone soup, caciopepe, zuchinni risotto, pork loin with beer, grouper fillet, sea bream fillet, seafood risotto, mussel...
Read moreFood was delicious- I had a beef fillet fettuccini which was delightful. All reasonably priced too. The atmosphere was very nice too, with ambient jazz/ boso nova/ French classic music playing whilst you dine. My one criticism- and this for me is quite annoying- is one of the servers approach to tips.
Since I’m not an American, tips are not expected and are only given out if the service/ experience surpasses expectations and the customer feels generous.
My server did not do this but others did- upon collecting card payment the server would awkwardly point out that the bill doesn’t include a tip and flat out asks the customer if they want to and how much.
To some that might not be a big deal but in my view, it’s very up front and off putting. It’s an attempt to pressure the customer through sheer embarrassment. I perhaps would’ve tipped if I hadn’t watched this happen multiple times whilst I was there but this really put me on edge and didn’t sit right.
Don’t let this alone detract from the food- for this sort of price point in a prime location, it is the best you will get (at least from my experience).
One last slight gripe, though perhaps I’m the odd one out here. I ordered lemonade, which to me should consist of lemon juice, soda water and sugar in its most basic form. I understand that some countries don’t use soda water and instead serve it still, but I have never known anywhere to miss out the sweetener.
When I asked about the taste of the drink, the server explained to me that it was just fresh lemon juice and water- which to me isn’t really lemonade but rather watered down lemon juice. Maybe this is usual for the area but having drank other lemonade on my trip, this was a first for sure and wasn’t very pleasant.
Overall, worth the...
Read moreAbsolutely absurd that this place has the best rating in TripAdvisor. The master of the place is definitely mad. After started good and continued with an amazing minute talk to customers at a neighbouring table, he just approached me and started his lessons of right behaviour persuading me to take my place immediately. Not being a 10 year child, I implied that it is impolite of him and it up to customers to take their time. The neighbours did not express their objection to our conversation. Seeing I didn’t evaporate in 3 seconds, he first told me that I don’t have a dinner any more at them and, 3 seconds later, passed directly to threats without a comment or reasons. After my suggestion to my interlocutors to continue the discussion later somewhere in a more comfortable place, he got totally mad and tried to fight me behind the corner. The incident can be approved by at least a dozen of customers, hopefully you will see their comments here. It is sad that immigrants like these spoil totally the atmosphere of this nice country by their behaviour, hopefully they will leave it before making pain to someone.
To the comment of the owner: it is low of you to lie that way. I realise you wrote it simply to save your reputation. The “polite manner” was to point me “this is your seat, take it immediately”, like I were a dog. Meanwhile we were talking absolutely politely with no abuse or force, which cannot be said about the “polite waiter”, no one needed his rude actions. So you have a very strange imagination about manners and especially...
