This is your sign to visit Amsterdam this summer! For me, it really is the perfect summer city destination. With tons to do and see, gorgeous canals to get lost in and amazing eats. Who would you love to explore Amsterdam with? GETTING THERE I would 100% recommend taking the @eurostar direct. It takes around 3 hours, 45 minutes but the time goes super fast. Plus you get the added bonus of seeing the French, Belgian and Dutch countrysides as you whizz through. Loved it so much more than flying! TO EAT Check out my reel two posts back on everything we ate in Amsterdam for all my recommendations! The 9 Streets (9 Straatjes) is a stunning village like area in the heart of historic Amsterdam. It consists of 3 parallel roads which cross the city's main canals and link Spuistraat with Prinsengracht. Between each bridge, the name of each street changes, hence the 9 streets. The streets in alphabetical order are comprised of Berenstraat, Gasthuismolensteeg, Hartenstraat, Huidenstraat, Oude Spiegelstraat, Reestraat, Runstraat, Wijde Heisteeg and Wolvenstraat, with most streets named after animal skins or tanning processes, a reminder of an era when the area was a market place for different kinds of skins. Dating back to early 17th century, the streets are part of Unesco's World Heritage site and have transformed into Amsterdam's most desirable residential area. Many international artists and performers have houses or apartments here, as do diplomats, sport personalities, entrepreneurs and successful business owners. Today, the 9 Streets are renowned as one of the world's most exclusive shopping areas with numerous niche shops, antiquarians, art galleries, book shops, boutiques, cafes, coffee shops, hotels, international fashion houses, florists, museums, opticians, restaurants and vintage clothing to name but a few.

Not even worth a star! Dirty , small stairs since entrance, then also to go to rooms gotta climb those tiny stairs. Room one night for 138 euro was so dirty, window doesn’t close, if you are cold then struggle with open broken window. Yellow water on the walls, shower and toilet was 🤮🤮 smelly, broken, you will hate looking at yourself in their nasty mirror. Beds were broken too ! Also sooo dirty and itchy. Smelly since the entrance. Floors were old and cracked. Went there to celebrate my husband birthday but I was so ashamed to see what condition the hotel is in. Pictures on their site is all fake or probably old !!! Need a deep cleaning and renovation.worst hotel I ever been 👎🤮

The ‘9 Straatjes’ in Amsterdam is supposed to be the area where you can shop for the unique products, unfortunately I was disappointed after visiting all of the 9 streets. What I noticed is that 80% of the stores is selling Alibaba stuff, covered in a nice package and selling it for ridiculous prices. It looks unique, but it is not at all, and you can find the exact same things in so called ‘concept stores’. Apart from that, it was fun to walk in Amsterdam without having too much crowd around you. The bicycles are driving like crazy in these streets, better look twice crossing the street!

It's always nice to do a little shopping while traveling and 9 Straatjes is a great place to do that. There are a few chains like République (a store I do love), but also Dutch brands like Scotch & Soda and one-off stores alternating with corner cafés for a rest & refresh. And, well, Pompadour for magnificent chocolates, patisserie, and tea. It's particularly lovely to shop in the canal rings of Amsterdam and not have to deal with the crush of people in the shopping areas off Dam Square. Plus, the location is gorgeous.

The 9 Straatjes, or Nine Streets, in Amsterdam are a shopper's paradise and a glimpse into the city's historic charm. Nestled in the canal district, these quaint streets are lined with boutique shops, vintage stores, cafes, and galleries. It's the perfect place for a leisurely stroll while discovering unique fashion, antiques, and handmade treasures. The picturesque canals that run alongside add to the area's charm, making it a must-visit for those looking for a taste of Amsterdam's eclectic and trendy side 🛍️🏘️🌆
