If you must go, I wholeheartedly recommend getting breakfast at home before embarking on this journey. When we got there, there were some empty seats at the window so we figured, as you do, that we could go in and ask if we could sit. About 10 minutes later, after about 4 other tables had been vacated, someone finally decided to look at us and let us know we’d be addressed “in a minute”. This person, annoyed at the idea of having to clean the now vacant tables, agreed to let us sit. The wait to have our orders taken was slightly long, but ok, we let this one slide as an oopsie, the venue was a bit crowded. We (two hungry humans) ordered two cappuccinos, two fresh orange juices and one plate of food each - no changes to the menu, no add-ons, nothing fancy. One thing I can commend them for is that the orange juice was very fresh. And given the time it took to arrive, one can only conclude that they planted the seeds for the tree as we placed our order and custom picked the oranges from the branches specifically for our juice! In other words, more than 30 minutes after we ordered, whilst all of the workers were moving at a speed that I can only describe as slow motion, we were beginning to wonder if we were ever to see our food or drinks before dinner. We enquired about our order, only to hear that our drinks were being prepared right now and that we could have them in about 5 minutes (likely the time it would take to milk the cow of enough milk for that rather small and very basic cappuccino). More time passes, we finish our drinks, ask again where our order might be, we hear that they’re very busy and therefore they’re late but they will ask. At this point it may be pertinent to mention that the venue had become half empty by this point, and we would see people who sat long after us receiving their food. In the distance, you can see workers slowly walking up to the wall with cutlery, which already had many packets prepared, only to spend the next 2 minutes preparing one more. Truly a sight to behold considering they were “very busy” and at this point we have been waiting for an hour. In the coming while we ask various people when our food might arrive, hearing that they would check, then seeing them go nowhere. Once we overheard the number of our table being discussed, but nobody came to share any information with us. Finally, about 1h15 since our order placement, our food arrives. Luckily the table had a salt and pepper mill to give it some flavour. After seasoning it, the food overall was average. PS: @the breakfast club: three halves of overly ripe cherry tomato does not...
Read moreThis is a good place for a leisurely breakfast, as the staff had a hard time dealing with a crowded service. The restaurant would benefit greatly from some managerial tweaks, as we watched diner after diner encounter the same confusion and frustration we did. We were not greeted at the door, and there was no signage to indicate what to do. We sat down (after deducing it was seat yourself) fairly quickly, but we waited almost 15 minutes before a server approached our table (do we order at the bar? Not sure...). We watched two groups come, stand, ask the bartender questions, then eventually leave. After our order was taken, we waited another 15-20 minutes for our food. Our drinks and coffee were served midway through our meal, which was frustrating. The food, on the plus side, was delicious and by far the best breakfast we have had in a while. We had The Mexico, the New York, and the eggs. Great pancakes and bacon, and the Mexico had all the flavors one would expect in a solid huevos rancheros. I would like to return when it wasn't so crowded to see if the service was better.
Update: returned to exact same experience. Ridiculous. 25 min and still waiting for food order, but can't leave bc we already have drinks. Five other tables are finished and waiting impatiently for their checks, each probably waiting 15 min or longer. People are now just standing at the bar anxiously trying to pay and get out. So poorly run. Finally had to flag down the manager and request to order. Check my other reviews...I am not a demanding person, but inefficiency on this scale is painful to watch. Set aside two hours for this place to take the stress off of any scheduled activities you may have planned...
Read moreGood food but horrible customer service. I reach my friends at 11am and after 20 minutes from the time they placed their order nothing has arrived yet. Finally after 30 in total their order arrives and we order again, including me. After another twenty minutes the food arrives but the drinks are missing including three glasses of water. We start to eat but obviously need liquids to get the food down. We request. Nothing. Another 30 minutes pass, in the meantime we finish eating. Still nothing. At that point, after the meal is finished, one of us gets up and goes to ask for glasses directly to the counter. A lady in her 50's initially did not give our friend a glance, then, when it was pointed out that we never received our drinks despite having asked three times to three different waiters, the lady asked "why instead of asking for three glasses of water you did not order a bottle?" (...???? So the problem was that not having to pay for water we were not entitled to it? Why not if it was a problem we were not told from the beginning)? At the end the lady takes three glasses clearly NOT WASHED (disgusting always, but more in post pandemic a) fills them with water and gives them to our friend without giving her a glance. Bill wasn’t cheap but in line with the city.
Evidently these people -like many activities in the city- are used to having customers regardless of the quality of service offered, but I hope that one day this may end and maybe they will begin to value the customer for what he is: source of their income and worthy of receiving a service worthy of the name, not perceived...
