Super-super nice food with a Korean twist! Highly recommend. However, make sure you double-check if you receive the food you actually ordered. My friend and I both have gluten intolerance, and inquired about gluten free options upon arrival, before ordering and when receiving our food - yet when we bit into our food it immediately became clear that we had in fact not received gluten free bread. The staff first insisted that the order was correct, but eventually admitted it was not and agreed to change it. We waited a good 30 minutes for the order to come back (although very few others were waiting for food), and honestly, it seemed like the staff decided to take a break halfway through making our sandwich. Annoying, but we decided to write it off as a fluke - that was until we saw the table next to us complaining that rather than getting the vegan egg salad, they had received the only non-vegan dish on the menu containing both egg and dairy. Again, super-super nice food - worth it - but make sure you get what you...

I never had such a bad experience before. The waiter was extremely overstrained. We waited 15min for him to take our order. It took him 20min to prepare a smoothie. We reminded him that we also ordered a Kombucha- there are two types- he brought us the wrong one. We also ordered the buckwheat pancakes with maple syrup and fruit. After 30 additional minutes he brought us ONE small pancake with jam and wanted to tell me that this were the pancake(S!) I ordered for 9,95€. He took the plate with him and as he couldn’t barely understand or speak English, I don’t know what he planed to do. Our second order, the Bibimbap bowl, wasn’t even in the making yet. It was the first time that we decided to leave without waiting for our food, as we were so hungry and tired of waiting. We understand that it might be difficult when a waiter is alone, but the cafe was only 30-40% full. It would have been better to offer a reduced menu than such poor...

Katie doesn’t like chocolate 🍫 she says ‘chocolate coats her veins and makes her arteries feel like clogged up stodge’. That’s not her exact words, I can’t remember her exact words (I rarely listen closely to what she says, I’m a busy man) 🧐

Anyway I say this because she said that whilst looking at the vegan chocolate brownie cake in the cafe. It looked unbelievable...so delicious 🤤 proper artery clogging material! That’s what you want if you’re eating chocolate brownie cake surely... 🍰

Not that you know it from this review, but this is a healthy cafe, vegan and veggie with one egg dish on the menu. I had a Indian lentil soup that was proper scrum 😋 and Katie had the buckwheat pancakes and a granola bowl! That’s how you do brunch! We did do done smashed up the brunch 🦍 - Thats a gorilla, they smash stuff 🤷🏻‍♂️ tenuous emoji use I know...

Go eat here with your face!

Great vegetarian/vegan breakfast/brunch/lunch/early dinner place in Amsterdam East. Been coming here ever since they opened and still enjoying the food and beverages they serve. Beter & Leuk is a sweet little place, that offers healthy meal options, that also taste great. Today, I enjoyed a tempeh salad breakfast on-the-go, with marinated tempeh, lots of greens, quinoa, hummus and other stuff, accompanied with hot applejuice with ginger and cinnamon (recommendation). For later today, I also bought their infamous brownie, made out of sweet potato and sweetened with date syrup. Delicious! The staff is superfriendly and I had a neat little chat with one of the girls, while waiting for my breakfast. They also have a little clothing corner with vintage and new collections.

We came here for a vegan breakfast and what else can we say? We had an amazing breakfast! Also gluten-free and everything is selfmade and made with love. The cakes and the options of the meals makes every vegan heart beat faster. The buckwheat pancakes were the best I ever had - and I already had a lot! They are very fluffy and are served with fresh fruit and maple syrup. The list of vegan and gluten free cakes and other sweets is endless. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful breakfast here. We would definitely come here again. P.S. They also have a little shelf with plastic free options for a better lifestyle with less plastic (shampoo bars, soaps, bamboo toothbrushes, etc). :-)
