Devonport Chocolates — Local services in Devonport-Takapuna

Sadly, just another "stuff" in chocolate shop. No focus on the chocolate itself as it taste like generic Cadburry stuff so mostly sugar, not much cocoa flavour. I am assuming they are just buying bags of "gourmet chocolate" pellets in "dark, milk, white". They have a decent selection of pralines and chocolate bars with possibly well selected additions of "stuff" to the bars but I have only had a chance to try 5 pralines. Those were just as mild in flavour as the chocolate itself. So no flavour party in the mouth, mostly "sweet". Service was very pleasant and trying to accomodate but after explaining I am mainly after chocolate and asking about chocolate origins or if they have any single origin chocolates, they asked which one do I like, I responder "fruity". At which point they started offering me their generic chocolates with fruit flavours, effectively missing my point of chocolate with fruity tones. Possibly miscommunication on my part as...

Today my mum and I bought 4 chocolates, a tiramisu, hazelnut praline, hazelnut truffle (I think) and strawberry matcha. Biting into each chocolate, they were all very hard, the type of hard that’s actually unpleasant. The texture once we started chewing was waxy and dry. The flavour of each was also so vague that they ended up just tasting sweet, of sugar. The tiramisu did mildly taste of coffee - I’ll give it that, but not of tiramisu. We didn’t end up finishing them as the mouth-feel was unpleasant and the flavour not even really a flavour. Nice chocolate but unfortunately terrible choice of courier service (Now Couriers)!

I ordered a present for my friend, which should have arrived for their birthday. Chocolate didn't arrive, courier apparently called to say that there was a package but was not at the property at time of call, did not leave a ticket for collection, nor said what company they were from.

I followed up with Now Couriers - the operator said she would personally call my friend to arrange an appropriate delivery time. This never happened. Package is over a week late, and requiring a third follow...
