I was about to respond to a comment with an honest response on Facebook but the group was handled by NZIE, they have shut down the post and closed the group. And their Facebook page does not allow for comments. (see screenshots below) You can also see that this person has rated 5* in Google Reviews - he is in charge of selling the program to future students. This is a conflict of interest and a fake review.
I will take my chance to answer here and I hope future students will be more aware of what they are getting into when joining this school.
The question was " How is NZIE?"
"Their marketing is great, that school is promising a great diploma, while in reality, they have no clue what they are doing.
We had up to 3 different tutors for a single term, because they kept firing/leaving. Only one of our tutors out of all the ones we had during the year, successfully managed to stay employed.
Amongst the reason why they left/got fired: incompetency, sleeping during class, aggressivity towards students - Then the administration, we all felt like the level of education was very low and management would not listen to us, or be very slow to react to our requests.
We would not learn much during class, and feel like the tutor knows less than some students who worked in the industry - but then the end of term project would be very demanding and only an intensive Googling would allow us to succeed.
Communication was pretty bad, we would learn very late our planning, got stuck in evening classes for 3 terms (5pm - 9pm), which was never mentioned before we came to the school (I had asked prior to joining). We were promised a small class but the last terms our two cohorts got joined and from 15 people we were almost 30 (some had failed in the meantime). Our grades would also come awfully late - which means that some students had to retake the course because they had failed in the first paper even though they were almost at the end of the second term now.
It was also very hard to get constructive feedback from tutors and we often had to demand to have one.
I also saw a huge difference in terms of tutors being allocated, and level of education, between the campus of Manukau - reserved for the locals, and Takapuna which is for international students. Depending on nationalities, some students had paid up to 20+k, while others had paid 10k. It gave us a pretty awkward conversation...
Most of us went to graduation, not proud, but relieved - because it was finally over and we could move on."
Some students raised it to NZQA, who investistaged but did not seem to have done anything yet. I hope to warn any students thinking of going there and seeing only what they want to...
Read moreI completed the full-time Social Media Marketing Diploma with NZIE and landed a freelance job halfway into the course.
This was my next step straight after finishing high school. I knew social media was something worth investing in, since: it can become a hybrid/remote work once I get that good it's a growing industry that I believe will not be going away anytime soon.
This course is easily digestible for beginners. I thought social media was just about taking videos/photos, aimlessly posting them with a creative caption, hoping to get likes/comments/shares. But after taking this course, we took a deep dive on the basics; creating content strategically, knowing/creating a businesses' buyer persona, design principles that psychologically make your posts stand out, beginner friendly video editing classes using industry level apps, uncover AI tools that make your life so much easier and you get to do all this with super cool teachers who are passionate about their areas of expertise in Marketing!
I would recommend this to beginners who are wanting a solid knowledge base of what it takes to be a Social Media manager (bc unfortunately it goes beyond that just "posting pretty pics"). I did this Full time course alongside Part Time Work (25hrs/wk). It's doable only if you're serious about going into the Digital Marketing Space. And it helps if you have an eye for design/detail but you're definitely still welcome if you don't think you do. They helped me develop my design skills too!
I do not regret going with NZIE and I've also made some fantastic connections with the students and teachers too! They're such a cool bunch of skilled people who have YEARS of experience in their field. So, you'll be taught by industry experts in a simple and engaging way.
Now, I work as a social media manager and designer for a local sushi company! NZIE gave me the basics on how to sustain myself in this position and to thrive. I have successfully helped this sushi company get more than 150 followers on FB after creating a campaign plan with NZIE and posting 1 reel that is now at 6K views, 130 reactions, 50+ comments and 12 shares.
You'll learn so much, but only if you come to each class like a sponge, ready to learn as much as you can. NZIE has helped me out and I encourage you to highly consider them, if you're thinking about going into the...
Read moreI am a graduate having completed the Diploma in Digital Marketing as of May 2022.
Coming from a designer background, with no experience in marketing or business, I found that this course provided a good foundation across all aspects of digital marketing. As I was looking to get into a designer role in the marketing industry, the broad skill set and knowledge I learnt throughout this course helped me to up skill and stand out during the job process. About a month and a half after I finished my studies and started job hunting, I managed to find a full time job as a Graphic and Web Designer.
The "Pros": -Highly knowledgeable tutors that are easy to get along with. -Decent exposure to industry tools and software -Broad coverage of all areas of marketing
The "Cons": -Some content overlapped between the different papers (though I believe they have made changes since I finished) -Some content was outdated, such as some of the video and software tutorials (as things in this industry move quite fast, content should be refreshed more often)
Other things to note: -It is an academic institution first and foremost, so grades and performance on assignments and assessments are important. -The workload can be heavy at times and I would suggest part-time study if you are working full time. -If you come from a marketing background you will probably be familiar with a lot of the content from your experience in the industry, as this course I would say is tailored more to people who are brand new to marketing. -If you are more interested in learning some industry software/programs/platforms/applications and/or just want to up skill in a particular area, and are not interested in the academic side, there are probably small 5 to 10 week courses that I would recommend that you take instead of doing this diploma.
Overall I would say my experience was positive and if you are like me and looking to up-skill and/or make a change to your career and move towards marketing, then I think that this course will provide you with a good base skill set and understanding that is widely applicable across many roles and industries.
I hope that you find this...
