Ripe Deli at Smales farm — Restaurant in Devonport-Takapuna

I usually rate Ripe Deli pretty highly — the food’s always on point with heaps of choice, and the barista knows their stuff, super quick and professional. But had a pretty stink experience with the service the other day. The lady with glasses who took my order had a really cold vibe, no smile, no friendly chat, just straight-up blunt. What really got me was the difference in how she treated people — she was all sweet and polite to a white guy before me, waited nicely for him to grab his food. But when it was my turn (I’m Asian), she just chucked the food on the bench and walked off without even looking at me. Honestly, not cool. We use Ripe Deli Smales Farm - for Delectable morning teas when our team have meetings, and special occasions. Last night I phoned to see if Ripe had a whole cheesecake we could have for a morning tea, this was last minute. The person was not sure until the morning. I phoned 7.30ish this morning and the same person from last night said they would in about an hour. Got to Smales Farm about 8.45am within 5-10mins this absolutely fabulous Cheesecake ever had the WOW factor. It was so delicious our Team of 18 are more than satisfied. As soon as you see the food it makes you hungry. Good variety of salads and lots of cakes and savory selections. However, $15 for a small salad which is nice but not worth $15 for a scoop of salad. The coffee was seriously average. Tasted like water. I got a soy capp. The cakes taste good and look amazing but they are from $13 up to $17 for a slice. A slice of pizza is also $14.
