Hipster coffee shop full of screaming kids on visit. I sympathise with people with young families but this doesn't really seem the best environment for them? A family of four sat at one of the trendy little impractical tables? I can appreciate the customers aren't within the control of the business.
Ordered two local craft beers (neither that nice unfortunately) & was given a number for table service. After 10 mins & with only a further 10 mins left to drink them, I thought I'll go help & collect them myself.
I was told "IT'S NOT READY!" as staff dealt with a big coffee backlog. I could have clarified that it being "ready" would've considered of opening the bottles & putting them on a tray with glasses but let's just say it didn't feel like a discussion.
The beers followed very quickly after so staff must have clicked that there was a problem. Bit of a sour note really. The place looked quite nice & the coffee smelt great but could do without the stress really. If you can't handle beers as easily as a bar does then...
Read moreToday is our second time at this cafe. The ambience is lovely and the cakes are excellent. We had their cherry pie and plum cheese cake with two single origin (costa rica/honduras) chemex method coffees. The service ladies are very friendly and accommodating, yesterday there was a rush for seats so we were going to settle for balancing plates and glassware on the steps (they provide cushions on the staircase leading up to the cafe), but surprisingly the lady in charge offered us a table and got a grabby couple to scoot instead. That sealed the deal for our second trip (that and the fact that the last slice of cherry pie floated past us at 4pm....) The BGM is a very eclectic mix of 60s to 80s music - not too loud but a great mood setter and they have some really interesting hand drawn paper/posters decorating the walls. Lovely place - I'd highly, highly recommend this place to anyone...
Read moreI went there after hearing many good things about this place. It was very busy but we managed to find a table for two. We were told to sit down as someone would come in just a minute. Unfortunately, that minute turned into twenty minutes. After ordering, we waited another 45 minutes only for the waiter to come back to ask what our order was. Once he took our order again, we were left for another 20 minutes or so. We were served as if nothing happened. That wouldn't be a problem at all if 1)we were to be informed about such delays prior to sitting or 2) we were given our order on the house to make up for such a long wait. Unfortunately, none of those two options happened. I'd advise for the employees to keep that in mind and let people know of possible waiting time as soon as they enter. Coffee and pastry was indeed very good but the whole experience takes away from...
