Stayed solo at PURO Hotel for a weekend break and wedding.
Great location, with the whole of Gdansk in walking distance. The area felt safe as a solo woman even at night. It is worth noting that it is on a pedestrianised street, so any taxi’s drop you off a short walk away.
The design of both the communal areas and rooms was superb. Staff were friendly and very kindly spoke English for me. I arrived back in the early hours of the morning on one occasion and was able to be let in straight away by staff on reception.
The room itself was spacious and comfortable. The bed was large with plenty of pillows. You can request hard or soft pillows before arrival. My view was of another building, so no views as such to mention. All of the room controls such as do not disturb, calls and lighting were done via a tablet in the room, which was a great addition.
Better signage is needed in the communal areas. On arrival I was told to use the first lift in reception, which then required me to walk down two corridors, up some stairs (with my luggage), across the atrium, then down a further two corridors. There was no signage in the atrium, so I got lost walking around trying to find the second set of corridors to my room. I later found there is a second set of lifts at the atrium which make the journey to my room step-free and far more suitable with luggage.
The wetroom shower was great. The lights were dimmable which was great for nighttime. There was a selection of toiletries such as shower cap, sewing kit, and even a sanitary towel which I thought was incredibly thoughtful. The only issue was that the water temperature for the bath was lukewarm, which was a shame.
The plug sockets were standard and not USB, but I was able to borrow an adapter in reception. USB sockets would be a great addition for travellers like me without adapters.
The room would have benefitted from somewhere to lay out your case too, as I had to leave mine on the floor.
I did not utilise the Italian restaurant, breakfast, roof terrace or spa, but should I revisit I would recommend a longer stay to take advantage of these.
Overall I would happily stay at PURO hotels again, however there are some shortcomings given the...

The positive:
Fantastic location, but note that the facade of the building is being maintained, so it is full of scaffolding and mesh on the outside But I heard no noise of construction from this.
It cost only 77 zloty to the airport with taxi
Good design of furniture, lighting, color schemes, nice design in rooms etc.
Negatively:
Our room (and apparently most rooms) did not have windows facing the street or backyard , thus no fresh air. All the rooms I observed were facing the artrium (this is a hotel inside another building)
If you need fresh air, or are claustrophobic, choose another hotel
In our room the A / C turned off regularly after about 30-40 min, so it was both hot and stale air, and practically almost impossible to sleep, in other words, the duvets were not needed. (even in winter time)
This ruined a lot of our stay
We told the reception every day, but nothing happened.
On the day we were checking out, we told them once again. The receptionist then told us that no note had been made of this problem with the A/C at all!
They told me the manager would contact me via email regarding our problems
No email came, so I sent them an email instead, and got the answer that they could give me a good offer next time, should i use the hotel again. ( i will obviously not)
In other words no compensation for the stay
The food in the restaurant:
Don't expect any taste sensations here, in fact don't expect much taste at all. Very tasteless, uninspired dishes, though the food on your plate is arranged to resemble a gourmet restaurant meal.
They had one dish i could recommend though, that is the pumpkin soup.
If you are hungry, instead head to" Whiskey in the jar", fantastic burgers! (it is only 10...

The location of the hotel is nice. Situated in the heart of Gdansk's old town, it offers easy access to the city's rich historical sites, charming cafes, and vibrant nightlife. The proximity to major attractions like the Long Market and St. Mary's Church made exploring the city incredibly convenient.
The rooms are a perfect blend of comfort and style. My room was immaculately clean, with contemporary decor and thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep.
