My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Geneza Jedzenia in Gdańsk, an experience that was nothing short of exceptional. Our evening began with a warm welcome and an inviting ambiance that promised a memorable night ahead.

We opted for the house red wine, which perfectly complemented our meal with its rich and robust flavors. My wife started with the tomato soup, a delightful prelude to her main course. She followed this with a pasta dish adorned with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, a combination she described as simple yet incredibly flavorful.

As for myself, I embarked on a culinary journey with the beef tartare. Priced at 47 PLN, this dish was a symphony of flavors and textures. The beef, tender and finely seasoned, melded beautifully with the lardo lard and fermented cucumber. The subtle crunch of red onion and the creamy egg yolk added depth, while the French mustard provided a delightful tang. The salsify, bread, and butter completed this masterpiece. Although the chipotle mayo felt unnecessary, it did little to detract from the overall perfection of the dish.

My main course was the Frutti di Mare pizza, a delightful creation priced at 57 PLN. Topped with a generous array of calamari, mussels, and shrimp, each bite was a taste of the sea. The gorgonzola cheese and capers provided a unique twist, harmonizing wonderfully with the tomato sauce and mozzarella. Despite a slight hiccup where my pizza was forgotten and subsequently burnt, the restaurant staff promptly informed us and swiftly rectified the situation. The five-minute delay was a minor inconvenience, overshadowed by the sheer delight of the perfectly baked pizza that eventually arrived.

What truly elevated our dining experience was the enchanting setting. Seated on the porch by the water, we were treated to a breathtaking view of the sunset, the sky ablaze with shades of orange and pink. It was a picturesque scene that complemented the exquisite food, creating a moment of pure magic.

We spent a week in Gdańsk after reading the reviews we booked to go hear for are last night. The restaurant was busy but not too busy. The restaurant itself is beautiful and in a great location with a good wine list.

However on this occasion we were sadly disappointed. We waited just over an hour for our food and when it arrived it was cold. We also asked if one of the pizzas we ordered Could have no cheese but with added oregano and peppers. Were told they would ask the chef however after the long wait when this pizza arrived like the rest of the food it was cold with no cheese and no oregano or peppers so we basically given a cold pizza with tomato base and few leaves of basil on top no where near the standard of food you would expect and for what we paid

It’s clear on this occasion the restaurant was focusing more quantity and amount of people they could get in and out rather than the quality of the food. Also In the hour we waited no came over to speak to us or ask if we wanted anymore drinks. Many tables who were sat before us with also more people received the food way before us.

The restaurant also only has one female and one male toilet with a single cubical so there were long cues/wait for the toilets. For such a large restaurant it’s a little inconvenient for lack of toilets especially with long wait times for food.

The restaurant has huge potential and by most reviews you can read below you can see that normally the service and food we received is not the normal however we were still very disappointed with our visit and hope this does not happen to...
