Chleb i Wino in Gdańsk — a restaurant I regularly (as a resident of Gdansk) visit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It highlights its three locations and overall excellence:
Exceptional Breakfasts & All-Day Appeal Chleb i Wino operates in three scenic Gdańsk locations (Stągiewna 17, Stągiewna 27, and Chmielna 3/7 on Granary Island), offering breakfast from early morning through lunch and beyond . The breakfast sets—such as Benedict waffle plates and chef’s omelettes—are generous, attractively plated, and paired with coffee or juice, usually priced around 55 zł . I find them consistently delightful and a perfect start to the day. Italian-Inspired Cuisine & Freshly Baked Bread Their daily-baked bread, made from traditional recipes, and handmade pastas bring authentic Southern Italian flavors to the heart of Gdańsk . The menu features a range of pizzas, pasta, salads, and mains—including standout dishes like Truflowa pizza and turkey meatballs—that balance portion size with refined taste . Well-Curated Wine Selection & Elegant Atmosphere Each location is thoughtfully designed to provide a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. Notably, the Chmielna venue offers lovely riverside views of the Motława River and the historic crane, creating an ideal setting for both casual meals and romantic dinners . Their wine list includes dry, semi-dry, and sweet options, allowing guests to complement each dish perfectly . Service & Value for Money Overall reviews across TripAdvisor, Yelp, and local portals are largely positive: guests praise the friendly, professional service and well-priced dishes. Many commend the consistent quality, even during busy periods. While occasional criticisms mention longer waits or slightly steep prices versus casual bars, most visitors find the experience and portion size justify the cost.
My Experience & Recommendation As a frequent guest, I can confirm: • Breakfast is consistently excellent—both in presentation and value. • Lunch and dinner feature freshly made pasta, artisan bread, and inventive dishes that keep me coming back. • Atmosphere is inviting and beautifully connected to Gdańsk’s history and riverside charm. • Pricing is fair for the quality and portion size, with occasional very affordable options. • Service is polite and professional, enhancing each visit.
In summary, Chleb i Wino is one of Gdańsk’s finest culinary addresses—a place I confidently recommend for all meals. Whether you want a relaxed brunch, a scenic dinner, or simply a glass of wine with good company, it’s a reliable, high-quality choice. Read moreI went to try this place on a Saturday morning 9 am, 20th November I usually mention the time, for the chef and staff so my review is fair
The restaurant was welcoming, I went in and would like to sit near the window but they were doing some maintenance work so I sat near the stairs, it’s very loud and annoying down, so I moved upstairs, space and decor is great 5/5
The bathrooms are clean and nice but does not have drying towels/paper which isn’t great since a lot of people don’t like using air to dry 1/5
The music was loud in my opinion but I was sitting in the corner which is under the speakers still not comfortable 3/5
Waitress spoke well English, well mannered and good fast service. Breakfast menu comes in both English and Polish 5/5
I tried both the egg waffle and culinary pancakes, both taste nice, I liked the eggs they were made in excellent way 8/5 both dishes were good, more than enough portion 4/5
The coffee wasn’t good in my opinion, a bit too burned and bitter, I added sugar to sweeten the taste. Didn’t do much really also small portion 2/5 And orange juice came warm, I don’t necessarily need it ice cold, but a fridge temperature would of been nicer 3/5
Nice atmosphere and location 5/5 Price and portion size is fair, at first I thought it’s too much but after going there I can say it is fair
I would recommend work to be done on the coffee and for juice not to be too warm, paper towels in bathroom to dry hands, reduced music volume, sauce added to the waffle pancakes it was mostly dry Thanks...
Read moreThe food and drinks were nice, especially mulled white wine with a taste of pear and pizza with truffle paste, however, Quattro Formaggi pizza was a little bit bland, not bad but it was missing something, a mix of the cheeses was not very strong. The staff could be more attentive however I understand that they were extremely busy, so I can forgive that. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite awful, to be honest, the decor is very yucky and it’s trying to look glamours and expensive, but the effect is the opposite - a lot of pink lights, white and gold elements, and modern tableware that doesn’t match dishes, for example, curved plate in the shape of the moon for burgers, in the effect the whole burger was soaking in the meat juice from the patty. This is the kind of restaurant where you can spot 20 years old Instagram models wearing faux fur, and fake Birkin and taking a selfie sipping a pornstar martini rather than normal adults with their family. Also, the music is horrible!!! I don’t understand how you could play songs by Shakira, Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, 50 Cents etc. in the restaurant! I don’t even want to mention the volume of the music… it was difficult to talk to each other because of the sounds that were supposed to play in the background. Overall, the food was nice, but was it worth waiting 30+ minutes in the queue outside? Absolutely not. Will I come back? Well probably not, just because of the vibe there...
