Smaki indii Restaurant & shisha bar — Restaurant in Gdansk

Caution Notice: Horrible service. Hats off to the chef, but genuinely horrendous service that is categorically my worst experience in all my travels. The restaurant was nearly empty with only 3 tables to serve, and there is no excuse for the level of disrespect and ignorance we were shown.

After ordering appetizers and drinks we waited over 30 min after the initial drink service before trying to wave the owner(?)/waiter down... no success despite eye contact. It took audibly calling out to encourage him to come by and take our main course order. Main dish service. 3 dinner dishes were brought out for our table of 4 due to an error on their side. Surprisingly there was no apology for the error and no time estimate was provided for serving the missing meal. The staff seemed surprised that we no longer wanted the 4th dish when it was delivered 25 minutes later, after the rest of us were done eating (we shared our meals with the 4th person to ensure we were all fed). Asked for the bill. Instead of bringing the bill when requested he leaned on the counter and was messing around on his phone. Encounter. Tried to rationalize his Darwin-award-winning service when he was eventually motivated to bring the bill.

Bar none, the worst service you will find in Poland, possibly the rest of Europe. Recommend...

To be honest? Upsetting experience, we choose this place for dinner after seeing all the nice reviews but… drinks tasteless, my boyfriend cocktails tasted only like sprite and my spicy mango margarita didn’t taste like tequila or either was spicy, just mango juice with ice. My tandoori chicken was lovely, tasty and soft, the naan felt more like a toasted sliced wrap with garlic oil, my boyfriend butter chicken wasn’t bad, not too strong in flavours but understandable as not everyone likes it too spiced up, he asked for veggie rice, after receiving plain cumin rice we called the attention of the waiter who confirmed with a quick look was the veggie one, we needed to call the manager to get it change to the actual right dish, at this point we didn’t really want to try dessert, so asked for the bill, we’ve been in the country now for 8 days and this is been the most expensive dinner we had, with 3 extras charges after the total amount, nothing on the menu said we were going to have the additional service charge. I think this place is just over evaluated and you can definitely find better places for cheaper...

First night in Gdansk, fresh arrivals and we were unsure where to go eat until we spotted this restaurant from our hotel room window. Quick google search to the excellent reviews, me husband and toddler went there to eat. The meal was absolutely fantastic! Best Indian food we have ever had!! And we come from England where Indian restaurants and multicultural food is part of our everyday life. Shrimp soup was demolished by my 2 year old. Mango curry was to die for, and my husbands grilled tandoori was delicious, soft well cooked chicken and not dry at all, full of flavours. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. Naan bread was smelling amazing, had a nice oily surface and was soft and fresh. We want tot thank ''Blueberry'' for helping us with the service and also the gentleman who kindly sorted a table for us though his family was sitting at the moment. Superior customer service and very rare to get. Took about 30 mins to eat (but that is the case in every restaurant in Gdansk) but it was well worth the wait. I will deffo visit again.
