Dreadful Experience at Team Salon, JEM Mall - Avoid at All Costs!
I just had the most appalling experience at Team Salon in JEM Mall, and I feel itâs my duty to warn others about this place. I went in for a hair re-bonding treatment, and what happened was nothing short of a nightmare.
Initially, they informed me that my hair length was classified as "maxi long," which meant an extra charge. I was fine with that, but then the stylist decided on his own that he would only treat half the length, claiming the rest of my hair didnât need it. After some back and forth, he reluctantly agreed to charge me for the "long" length, but assured me the entire length would look uniform. I was prepared to pay for the full treatment, so I expected professional service.
The first red flag was when he began applying the lotionâhe barely covered the hair up to my shoulders, even though my curls extended well beyond that. I had to confront him, asking why he wasnât applying the product to the agreed length. Only then did he begrudgingly bring out more lotion, but it was obvious he was trying to cut corners. He applied it hastily and washed it out after less than five minutes, which anyone whoâs had re-bonding knows is ridiculously short. It felt like he was rushing through the whole process, as if my hair was just an inconvenience.
Throughout the session, the staff kept chatting amongst themselves in such a rude and sarcastic manner. It was clear they were more interested in gossiping than focusing on their work. The atmosphere was uncomfortable and unprofessional.
After quickly drying my hair, the stylist applied another product, but again, he barely waited a couple of minutes before washing it out. The straightening part was done just as carelessly; instead of meticulously working on small sections of hair, he lazily grabbed large chunks and ran the straightener through them. The entire process was over in about an hour and a half, when it should have taken at least 3-4 hours. Iâve been getting re-bonding treatments for over a decade, so I know how itâs supposed to be done.
When I checked my hair afterward, I was horrified. The top layer looked somewhat straight, but underneath, it was a messâcurly, frizzy, and severely damaged. It was heartbreaking to see my hair in such a terrible state, and I was on the verge of tears. The stylistâs lack of care and expertise had left my hair looking fried and unhealthy.
I demanded to speak with the manager, who admitted that the stylist wasnât even a re-bonding specialist and had likely never done it before. They essentially used me as a guinea pig while charging me SGD 358 for the privilege! The manager also acknowledged that the damage might have been caused by the stylistâs inexperience and his rush to finish the job, but couldnât explain why someone unqualified was allowed to handle such a delicate procedure.
After much arguing, the manager offered to "fix it" the next day, promising to handle it personally. However, he couldnât guarantee any improvement or even explain what would happen if the damage got worse.
This experience was an absolute disaster from start to finish. For a salon with a high-end location in a major mall, the service was shockingly bad, and I felt completely ripped off. The staff's rude, sarcastic behavior and the shoddy work reflect a total lack of respect for customers.
I strongly urge everyone to stay far away from "Team Salon, JEM Mall" or any of their other branches. If anyone has advice on what legal action can be taken, please shareâIâm devastated by the damage done to my hair, and this level of unprofessionalism should not...

My mum and I are truly wow-ed by your friendly and caring service! I really wanted my mum to look her best on my nephew's wedding. I have been trying hard to find but all the salons have the standard wash basin which is not accessible to a wheelchair bound person like my mum who is in her late 80s. Many thanks to my colleague for recommending Liz to me. Liz offered us to try the reclining chair meant for her facial and spa clients. When we were in their JEM outlet yesterday, the whole team sprang into action, we discussed and we explore options. We decided that my mum will sit in her wheelchair for the cut and will move to the reclining chair for the wash. Liz make sure that the wheelchair are adequately covered to keep the fallen hair from sticking to the wheelchair cushion. For the wash, they readily moved trolleys to make the place more accessible. Together with Ivan, we transferred my mum from the wheelchair to the reclining chair for her wash. Liz brought dozens of towels to prop my mum's leg to make her more comfortable and to keep her warm. Liz also ensure my mum has warm tea throughout. Last but not least, both of us were very happy with our cuts and coloring done by Ivan for my mum and Jamie for me. Liz was there constantly to provide suggestions to fine tune the final touches. Ivan and Jamie were attentive and superb in their cutting skills.
Kudos to Liz and her team for a great display of passion and professionalism! They have truly exceeded my expectation and I would highly recommend...
   Read moreI went in Team Salon on the night of 29th of January. I love the ambiance, love the bright light of the place, it is clean & have a very classy interior... Im really satisfied with the service made by Vin Yong & Kim. Vin is a great hair stylist & I like his approach that he never made so much sales talk like I experienced in other salon, but rather he just made a good suggestion & which I never regret & thankful that I agreed to his views. I just showed to Vin many saved picture of short cut haired woman in my handphone & he never had difficulty to follow what I exactly wanted & good for the shape of my face. So I had hair cut from a flat boring long hair & he turned it to a sophisticated short layered hair. I also had the hair treatment & Vin recommended hair colouring. The end result is really good, I love my new hair, he gives more body in it. I told Vin that if I need to come back, I will find him again to take care of my hair. I also love the service of whole team coz they were not rushing the time although I went there in evening hour. They still meticulously took time from washing of hair to cutting to applying treatment, dye colour & hair blowing. While Kim is a very approachable lady & accommodating, she made sure I understand fully the service I paid & explained to me well about the use of shampoo, conditioner & hair tonic she gave me.
