Summit Rooftop Menlyn has garnered a reputation for being a vibrant dining destination, and our recent visit confirmed the buzz surrounding this establishment. Although we did not venture upstairs to experience the rooftop ambiance, our time spent at the restaurant was delightful and exceeded our expectations. Our outing began with curiosity about what made Summit Rooftop so popular. We were pleasantly surprised when our casual visit turned into a full three-course meal. The menu offered a variety of options, and we decided to indulge in some of their standout dishes. I kicked off my meal with the Chicken Trinchado starter. This dish was expertly prepared, showcasing tender chicken pieces in a rich and flavorful sauce that perfectly complemented the accompanying sides. The balance of spices was commendable, making it an excellent introduction to our dining experience. For the main course, I opted for the Jalapeno Cheese Rump. This dish was nothing short of spectacular. The rump steak was cooked to perfection—juicy and tender—with just the right amount of heat from the jalapenos and creaminess from the cheese. It was a well-executed dish that highlighted both flavor and texture, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. To conclude our meal, I chose Malva pudding for dessert. This traditional South African dessert was moist and decadent, served warm with a side of custard that enhanced its sweetness. It provided a comforting end to an already enjoyable meal. In addition to the food, I had the opportunity to try several shooters during our visit: Jelly Baby, Soweto Toilet, and another whose name escapes me. Each shooter was unique in flavor and presentation, adding an element of fun to our dining experience. We finished off with a Tall Cappuccino which was rich and aromatic—a perfect way to round out our afternoon. Overall, my experience at Summit Rooftop Menlyn was delightful from start to finish. The quality of food surpassed my expectations, and I found no faults in any of the dishes we tried. I look forward to returning in the future when we're back...
Read moreMade a reservation for Valentines Dinner. I have to say, making the reservation was very easy and smooth. Their response time was +/- 24hours and email etiquette was 10/10. Upon arrival, the hostess was friendly, accommodating and warm. She quickly found our booking and sat us at our table and allocated our waitress Tshepi for the evening. Ambiance: 10/10 There was a very talented saxophonist playing beautiful romantic ballads. We were serenaded from beginning to end. Aesthetics: 10/10 Management: 10/10 You would see the gentleman coming around, gently checking if all is fine. Food: Wow! So, I decided to try something different from the usual steak and vegetarian options that I go for. The menu was a set menu with 3-4 options for entré, mains and dessert. I chose oysters with wasabi for entré and Seared Salmon with veggies for mains and malva with custard for the dessert. I enjoyed every bit. I was surprised by how tender and tasty the salmon was. I unfortunately don't have a proper phone to give witness to my dish, but I hope what I could capture can give you an idea of how beautiful and idyllic my Valentines dinner at Summit was. I will come again very soon to try their 2nd level since we chose to dine on the ground level. I am looking forward to dining at summit because, WOW. Thank you team and thank you to Tshepi our waitress, you were the cherry on top of our...
Read moreVisited Summit on the last Friday of the year, and overall, it was a great experience. The music was fantastic, and the ambiance was lively and enjoyable. For food, I had the avo and bacon burger with fries which was delicious while a friend ordered the blue cheese-filled steak with fries, but it was a bit of a letdown. The steak was dry, and the blue cheese filling was almost nonexistent. We ended up ordering a side of cheese sauce, which was just melted cheese. The service was a bit slow and not as professional as I’d hoped. There’s definitely room for improvement in that area. Nevertheless, Summit is a fun spot, but be aware that the music can get quite loud in the evenings—almost club-like, so if that’s not your vibe, I’d suggest visiting during the day when...
