RocoMamas Menlyn — Restaurant in Gauteng

Our visit to Rocomamas at Menlyn Mall was a very pleasant experience.

As usual, Rocomamas restaurants do not disappoint.

We dined in on a sunday afternoon, where there was plenty of seating available and not being over-crowded.

We have no complaints about the drinks.

I was feeling adventurous and ordered the "Suprise Me" milkshake. (I do appreciate this initiative from Rocomamas as you do not find this a lot.) My satisfaction was met with the end result of the milkshake.

As with my fiancé, she had plenty of mixer options with her Cola Tonic.

As with the food, we ordered the No.1 Limited Edition Tropical Beef Burger, chicken wings, and a To-Share cheesy fries with added Jalapeno & bacon bits.

The burger I was a bit disappointed with as it did not have a lot of flavor and was a bit bland. My expectations was higher, especially after the great marketing materials.(I did not deduct a star for this as I believe that this is an initiative from the Head Office, and cannot penalize the specific one restaurant for this).

The chicken wings were on par as always.

The cheesy fries were great, but I would recommend a cheese sauce with a stronger cheese flavor. I would recommend adding the bacon bits or the Jalapeno if you enjoy a bit of spicy flavor.

As for the service I received, the waiter we had was excellent with very friendly service, and was very communicative, and I noticed great up-selling techniques coming from our waiter.

Usually I love RocoMamas, especially the one in Menlyn Mall, it is my go to place. However, a recent experience really has me questioning it. Last Saturday, my family and I were at the mall and just as it started raining, I moved to the inside of the mall by RocoMamas. I asked a lady who was clearing tables if I could sit at the one table and told her that we would be ordering. She then called a waiter and instead of asking the waiter to help me, she asked the waiter to help her clear the tables and move them inside as the rain begun. I felt like I was in the way and so I moved to another table that had no dishes on it. I sat and sat and sat. Another waiter walked past me to another customer who was sitting and eating and it was as if I was invisible because he did not see me. Eventually I got up and went to their main indoor section and asked who the manager is. To my surprise, the lady, who appeared moody and uninterested earlier, was identified as the manager. I then told the waitress about my disheartening experience and said that I don’t actually want to speak to the manager when she too, couldn’t have cared less about my needs. More often than not I’m a patient customer and I really don’t like any confrontation or complaining about service, but this really was horrible. I am unsure if I am likely to visit their establishment...

Arrived and our waiter took gave us menus and took our drinks order and starter order, all was well until he took our main order and then was hardly in sight or available, it took almost 40mins to get our food,when our food arrived, our chicken strips were completely cold, half my order was missing and i even ordered a limited edition item which is inexcusable to forget a part of the order, my order was sent back and took over another 10mins to arrive and was cold when i got it. In between we had to get the attention of other staff to assist us because our waiter was hardly available, we ordered waffles and the waffles took over 30mins, the waiter saying the kitchen forgot the order, when the waffles arrived they were soft, soggy and not appetizing. When asking for the manager, she was not friendly, made no eye contact, briefly just said sorry, no sincere apologies for the bad service we had gotten.
