To any visitors, locals, and expats I highly suggest you use any number of gyms local to the Citudella area of Barcelona other than this one. The gym is actually nice but also often too busy and crowed.
In the end, after 2 years the service has really let me down. Let me tell you why.
After being with this gym for 2 years I went to the front desk at the beginning of May to ask when my membership was up. They told be May 31st. This, I think would mean to cancel I would need to tell them before that date, right? I went back on the 27th of May the same lady was there. I told her I need to cancel (My reasoning, which I did not include is that Im going away for the summer, easy enough.) Again, the same lady, tells me no, you needed to cancel before the 20th! If this is so why didn’t she tell me this before! I get that it could have been a miscommunication. Which is what the main office responded when I emailed a complaint. They said,“Perhaps the communication with that person wasn't entirely clear, because communicating or asking when my registration promotion ends—which isn't specifically closed, and which at the end becomes monthly direct debit receipts—is not the same as directly requesting to unsubscribe. The reception team is made up of highly qualified and professional staff who never attempt to "scam," manipulate, lie, or omit any rules requested by the customer. They simply clarify and provide as much information as possible to the customer upon request. I'm sorry I can't do anything more for your case.”
IF they simply clarify and provide as much information as possible then she should have told me.
Im tired of companies training their employees to money grab at loyal customers. And treating them like numbers on a spreadsheet. Health and wellness is about people and community. This is no way to run a people centric buisness. I should know, I own one. And if there is ever a discrepancy that makes sense or even vague but understandable and doesn’t benefit my paying customer, Im always happy to make it up to them.
That is to say I will not return after my summer abroad and again to any visitors, locals, and expats I highly suggest you use on of any number of gyms local to the Citudella area of Barcelona...
Read moreI am a member. Here's the lowdown on why this place it's like 6 out of 10 at best:
Sauna / Steam room only open alternate days, for a few hours a day.....and at times when gym is empty apart from Saturday (when everyone tries to use at same time) Closed / closing early for holidays 17 days this year (despite the bulls**t claim on their website) Sunday opening hours are a joke, 2nd busiest day of the week and they only open a half day Management never email you to let you know about holiday, closure of facilities for maintenance, changes in schedules etc. All notices at the gym are in Catalan only, alienating the majority of members (yes - the majority) who do not speak Catalan 1st language Outdoor pool is good BUT massive mistake giving ClassPass users access - all summer it was packed with ClassPass mums bringing their kids (for free!!!) taking over the space - monthly members got screwed here - literally we were paying for ClassPass families to use the pool Stretching area got turned into a weird neon light zone and is always too busy........equipment in there should be moved elsewhere to make more floor space available and the inappropriate lighting should be removed Gym equipment is good New upstairs gym room is good Spin room is huge, classes are good......but again that room sits unused 90% of the time (same for the yoga room upstairs) Swimming pool is good (but needs more regular cleaning, especially as used all the time by local school kids - bottom of the pool is looking really dirty at the moment with the same floating debris not removed for days at a time)
So yeah it's 'fine'.......Feels like it's like a local, municipal gym that used to be run by the city......but then Okeymas took on the license to operate it and improved it enough to justify the €53/month fee.......there are several MUCH better gyms in Barcelona, but this one is right by my house so I just suck it up and make it work. Hope that helps some folks

Read moreLater edit since I cannot reply to the gym's answer: Now they say I am lying about this. I have no interest. I don't want a refund, I just wanted a good experience. All I said is true and they have bad communication and bad client service - from my experience. So for sure, won't recommend them to anyone.
I rarely get angry about anything but… it’s a long story about bad communication and lack of respect… Will for sure cancel subscription at the end of the month.
I enrolled in swimming classes. Everything was nice and good (4 weeks) till the swimming teacher left the gym. Next class was with replacement teacher - she was nice - she said she is giving me a “masterclass” since it’s the last class I have till “vacation” - till september (was 17th of june and next week gym was closed for sant jordi).
I remember saying that i didn’t know about any of that and she let me know that indeed it is last class and suggested me to practice at the pool or sea till autumn. I asked at the reception and they confirmed.
So, obviously I was mad that nobody told me that beforehand. And that my progress will be gone.
This week - july 10th - the gym transaction came on my card for current month and it included my swimming classes. When I went at the reception, they had to call and ask somebody if swimming classes are still on or what’s happening. And they let me know the classes didn’t cancel yet - they will at the end of july. So now I am even more annoyed cause I paid for nothing almost a month.
That’s the worst communication and disrespect for the client I’ve ever seen.
Also - went to yoga class and the room was next to the outer pool - really noisy and unfit for yoga - I could hear the kids screaming and people talking. The teacher and class...
