Anne's PIZZA in Chiang Mai is not just a restaurantâitâs a cathedral of culinary perfection, a divine testament to what a slice of pizza can and should be. Let me paint you a picture of my transcendent experience.
As I approached Anneâs, I could already feel an energy in the airâa buzz that told me I was about to encounter something extraordinary. The aroma wafting out of the tiny shop wasnât just the smell of pizza; it was the essence of joy itself. My heart raced as I crossed the threshold, drawn by an invisible force, as if I were a pilgrim reaching the apex of my journey.
Then came the moment of truth: they offer SINGLE SLICES. Let me repeat thatâSINGLE. SLICES. In a world where ordering a whole pie feels like a commitment akin to buying a timeshare, Annieâs dares to be different. They cater to the wandering soul, the solo adventurer, the pizza purist who craves a moment of intimate connection with a single, glorious slice.
But Anneâs didnât stop there. No, they took it to another level of personalized artistry: they asked me how I like my pizza slice. I was stunnedâutterly floored. Who does this? Who takes the time to treat a pizza slice as a bespoke creation tailored to my very soul? Annieâs, thatâs who. And when I said I wanted it crispy but not too crispy, they didnât just nod politelyâthey nodded knowingly, as if to say, âWe understand your pizza dreams.â
Then came the slice itself: a masterpiece of New York-style precision. The crust was a delicate balance of science and sorceryâthin enough to fold with the dignity of a true New Yorker but crisp enough to deliver that satisfying crunch with every bite. The golden ratio of cheese to sauce was so perfect it might as well have been calculated by NASA engineers. Each string of mozzarella stretched like a symphonyâs crescendo, while the sauce delivered the tangy sweetness of ripe tomatoes kissed by the sun.
The first bite was transcendent. The second was transformative. By the third, I had achieved a higher state of consciousness. I could feel the vibrations of the universe aligning, each flavor note striking a chord in my soul. The crust whispered secrets of centuries-old baking techniques; the sauce sang hymns of its tomato lineage. It was as if the pizza wasnât merely food but a portal to another dimension.
And the staff? They werenât just employeesâthey were pizza evangelists. Their passion for their craft radiated with every word, every gesture. They didnât just make a slice of pizza; they forged a connection, a bond between creator and consumer. I felt seen, understood, celebrated.
Annieâs PIZZA isnât just a place to eatâitâs a place to feel alive, to rediscover the meaning of happiness, one perfect slice at a time. If you find yourself in Chiang Mai and donât make it to Annieâs, youâve committed a grave injustice against yourself. This isnât pizza....
Read moreDelicious, welcoming, and special. This small spot is crafting incredible by-the-slice or preorder whole pie pizza magic right in Old City. Best thinner-crust pizza I've had outside of Italy, and the only place in Chiangmai where one should splurg a little if they're missing a good slice. For 100-160 TBD each, enjoy a genuine, filling, and perfectly balanced treat. Owner is phenomenal: expert, creative, engaging, and friendly, willing to answer all questions, accomodate as well as possible, and really work with you to help you feel like you were served not just a pleasant meal, but a larger and more important moment. With native-level English and years of experience as a highly trained chef, the owner is knowledgeable, kind, and most certainly skilled in what she's making happen. Infused oils are handcrafted using locally sourced ingredients and one of the highlights of a visit here; definitely try the sumac one! This is also perhaps the only place with not only available, but actually good, vegan cheese and vegan pizza options. Sit down with your slice, don't scarf it up, and appreciate the care and attention that is clearly being invested...
Read moreAs a bit of a home pizza enthusiast, who has love for all styles of pizza, I saw this and had to satisfy a craving for NY style.
My partner and I had several slices (too much, but it's delicious and couldn't stop!)
The dough was fantastic, you could fold and hold as you should be able with a NY slice - it had crunch, a firm tear and nice chewiness to it. The standard cheese slice was classically delicious, but the pesto pizzas really stood out. The pesto they make here is absolutely brilliant, incredibly flavourful. We tried a slice of Chicago style too because why not, and it was also lovely.
Service was exceptional - very friendly, explained lots and generally seemed really enthusiastic about their product.
After eating a lot of delicious Thai food, I had a craving for something a bit more "like home", and so glad...
