Atitan Art Store — Local services in Chiang Mai Province

The couple that own this store are very helpful and knowledgeable! They have an enormous collection of old (and some not so old) antique relics amd treasures from Thailand and other eastern cultures... it is truly amazing walking amongst their amazing collection! I loved this store and the owners were fantastic in giving me their knowledge of the different meanings and explaining the backgrounds of the items i was interested in! They were open during the evening and I'm so glad i stumbled across it! If you are visiting chiangmai don't buy your loved ones rubbish and throw-away souvenirs! COME HERE AND BUY THEM SOMETHING TRULY SPECIAL, SOMETHING THEY CAN KEEP AND HAND DOWN THROUGH THE FAMILY!!! YOU WILL FIND SOMETHING AWESOME I PROMISE!! And all at a very reasonable price! I had to drag myself away... and i will be going back to Australia with some ancient and special gifts for my kids and hubby! You will love buying your sovereigns from here (allow around a couple of hundred australian or US dollars, and you wont regret it! Plus they took credit card, yay lol)....instead of useless rubbish that i would have probably spent that much on anyways, this time i get to go home with some keepsake items to remind me of my beautiful trip...

I was wandering around, and this antique store caught my attention. A very kind and warm Thai woman, who later I found to be named Kaew, approached me offering water and explaining about all the pieces with such enthusiasm, which was hard not to be fascinated and engaged. She explained that the museum "controls" her shop, which makes it easier to ship items abroad. She also said that the collection came from a reunion from the families of her Chinese father and Thai mother, gathered for 6 generations. She also showed me the backyard (through her house, apparently) with the old bamboo-style rice storage, there since the beginning and with no chemicals to conserve it (it is too conserved for its age) and her mom's attached shop, also with another bunch of antique pieces. She is a delight, and the shop has many amazing items to browse for. I spend almost an hour listening to...

I happened to be walking by here and the stunning collection of antiques pulled me in. The friendly owner who lives in the back of the shop came out and began explaining some of the items and their history. She graciously allowed me to take some photos and brought me through her kitchen and into the lush garden where she had even more items in storage. She explained that her family owned the building for 6 generations and you can tell she takes great pride in her heritage and the items she has collected over the years. I sent my wife who found the pricing to be good and ended up making multiple purchases. The kind owners then drove her to a local DHL where she was able to ship the items back...
