I had the most amazing experience at Once Upon A Thai with The Anodat Journey package (30-minute Onsen, 30-minute body scrub, and 90-minute massage). From start to finish, everything was flawless.
The ambience itself deserves a mention — set in a rustic bungalow villa, it felt like a serene getaway right in the middle of bustling Bangkok. The Onsen was deeply relaxing and set the tone perfectly. For the scrub, I was given a choice between coconut or tamarind; I went with tamarind for its brightening effect, and my skin felt fresh and renewed afterwards. For the massage, I could even choose between three different essential oils, which made the whole experience feel thoughtfully tailored. The massage itself was simply outstanding — one of the best I’ve ever had.
What impressed me most were the small details that are often overlooked elsewhere: the massage oil was gently warmed (such a rare touch!) and even the massage table was warmed to the perfect temperature. It was so comforting that I drifted off to sleep. To add to the magic, there was even an auditory experience — the gentle resonance of singing bowls softly playing in the background, lulling me into an even deeper state of relaxation.
This spa truly ate and left no crumbs — the therapists were skilled and attentive, the atmosphere was tranquil, and every detail was executed to perfection. This wasn’t just a treatment, it was a complete journey of relaxation and care.
By the way, there is a sweet ending to it all - a choice of three cold desserts and a pampering warm compress over your neck while you sip tea as you end your spa day.
I’ll definitely be back, and I’d highly recommend Once Upon A Thai to anyone looking for a truly world-class spa experience. 5 stars just doesn’t adequately measure...

I booked the Wellness Spa Package with the Oxygen Onsen, and it was hands-down one of the best spa experiences I’ve had.
✨ Oxygen Onsen Experience The session began with the oxygen onsen – an elegant, private soak in mineral-rich water enhanced with oxygen bubbles. It was warm, deeply relaxing, and noticeably helped ease my muscle tension and clear my mind. The combination of steam and oxygen gave a gentle detox-like effect. I could feel my skin getting softer and my breathing becoming clearer – almost like a mini reset for my whole system.
💆♀️ Massage & Wellness Treatments After the onsen, I was guided to a treatment room for a full-body Thai wellness massage. The therapist was incredibly skilled, attentive, and responsive to my needs – applying just the right amount of pressure while incorporating stretches and aromatherapy oils. It felt both therapeutic and deeply calming.
☕ Attention to Detail I appreciated the little touches – from the warm herbal tea served before and after the treatment, to the staff’s genuine hospitality. The facilities were spotless, the robes and towels were plush, and the entire space radiated peace.
🌸 Final Thoughts If you're looking for a spa experience that goes beyond just pampering – one that nurtures your body and mind – Once Upon a Thai is a must-visit. The oxygen onsen was a unique and luxurious addition that elevated the whole package. I left feeling refreshed, lighter, and deeply rejuvenated.

Read moreThis was a subpar experience. For the price of 8000+ THB for a 2 hour signature treatment, I had higher expectations. Booked a couple’s room and both masseuses were lacking finesse, technique and pressure. Aesthetically, the spa is on point if that’s your thing. I too fell for the marketing and overall zen. A very expensive mistake and never again. I laid on the spa bed for 2h wishing my massage was over. Think how excruciatingly bad a massage has to be, for you to wish for it to end.
There’s great massages, not so great, and bad - this was a session of running simple strokes with thin runny oil (that was not great quality), and my therapist ran out of steam within 1h even though I told her to increase pressure. She could tickle me, and I’d feel more.
As an avid traveler who gets her massages regularly across different parts of the world, this was the worst experience for the worst price. It definitely targets a certain demographic of female tourists/foreigners. It was so unsatisfactory I’d say run to any massage stores by the street and you’d get a better one.
Also, if you value punctuality or not being too late in between your appointments plus Bangkok traffic, please leave buffer time. Service was excruciatingly slow in every aspect. We were early for our appointment but somehow waited 20 min just to start late and ended 25 min past scheduled time - causing us to race to our dinner appointment.
The only upside was that the complimentary dessert ice cream was delicious but it didn’t do enough to remove the bad taste of this upmarket money-grabbing...
