Overall, a great value, clean, and decent to great massage.
The entrance is small, but they’ve done a good job of decorating it with a tranquil ambiance with bamboo and a bubbling water fountain.
Facilities and bathroom are clean. They ask for all customers to wash their feet before they begin the massage at a wash area is located inside the door and immediately to the left. Once clean, they give you a pair of slippers to wear to the room.
I noticed a foot massage station on the first floor, located behind the seats of a the waiting area and lightly concealed by threaded curtains. May not be the best foot massage station with the entry way and waiting customers.
The massage rooms are located upstairs, so be aware if you have difficulty climbing up or down stairs. Our rooms were on the second floor, but there looked to be at least one more floor upstairs.
Our massage room had a raised platform and three pads with curtains that could separate or join all three pads. The pads had what looked to be clean sheets, pillow and case, a towel, and a pair of shorts and shirt for you to change into. The room smelled of menthol and did not have a musty, moldy, or off odor about it.
The Thai massage starts with you laying on your stomach, then your back, then laying against the masseuse’s legs, and finally sitting up with crossed legs.
As for the quality of the massage, I believe this depends on the masseuse you receive. We were told during checkout that you can not request a specific masseuse, so you’re truly rolling the dice. I had a bigger gentleman for my masseuse, who was able to apply firm pressure when I asked and manhandle me to stretch and crack my back. My wife on the other hand had an ok masseuse who couldn’t (or wouldn’t) apply more pressure when asked.
We were still satisfied enough to tip them just over 10%.
Overall, I think this is a great value located close in the city and...
Read moreWe came for massage in an empty shop. Extremely rude lady at the reception, it’s the owner apparently! Staff turn over is sky high according another Thai lady who walked out and the owner didn’t want to book us a Thai massage except a foot massage in 30 minutes which we declined as we asked for a THAI massage, not a foot massage. Before COVID we been here a few times. It was hit and miss. Some ladies massaged like they need to catch the last train home, others were clumsy and lacked experience. There used to be a few older ladies who were good, they all left. After checking other reviews, we were not surprised as all of what we experienced was mentioned by many other guests. Bangkok has many fantastic massage shops with excellent service and friendly staff so don’t waste time and money on such a poor “service”. For 270 baht there is many options all over town and some really good like in Charoen Nakhon area. Chao9 Massage does NOT belong to this category unless you visit Thailand for the first time with no idea how a Thai massage should be/feel. My Thai partner was disgusted by the poor behavior which is very un-Thai so good luck on...
Read moreI should hv known the moment I stepped through their sliding door. No smiles on any of the service staff face, their faces were to the floor. Opted for 2hr thai massage and therapist is so gruff not even a hello just wearing a frown. Throughout the whole massage she was not providing thai massage, I've been to Thailand for more than 30years and never had such bad thai massage basically its a scam she just rubs the body with her elbow and arms without any stretching or pulling. She massaged my shoulders until they hurt until i had to tell her to stop. I asked her if she knew how to stretch my neck she said she cannot. Then she proceeded to massage my hair rubbing it until my hair is matted up. Feeling disillusioned at this waste of time and effort I decided to just leave. My initial thought was to get an explanation from the front reception but decided against it since the look on all the staff faces at the reception were glowering; it wouldn't make my sore shoulders any better. If I could give no stars I would gladly. Terrible waste of time. Don't offer a cold service or falsely advertise what it isn't - this ISN'T...
