Dining at Rongsi Pochana has become a must-do ritual for us whenever we visit Bangkok. Located conveniently behind the Kempinski hotel, this Thai restaurant has won our hearts with its authentic and delectable offerings.
On our recent early dinner visit, we were so ravenous that we indulged in a veritable feast - ordering five dishes for the two of us. The spread was a tantalizing showcase of Thai cuisine's diverse flavors and textures.
The standout dish for us was the 'Gang Som' - a spicy and sour soup featuring fried seabass and water mimosa. This regional specialty, often overlooked by non-Thai diners, reminded us of the exceptional Thai soups we had sampled during our previous trips to Los Angeles, recommended by our Thai colleague. The balance of sour, spicy, and savory notes in the 'Gang Som' was simply perfection.
Another highlight was the 'Pa-Lo Duck' - a delectable Chinese-influenced stewed duck dish, served with duck blood and intestine. The tender, flavourful meat and the rich, gelatinous textures of the offal elements combined to create a truly memorable dining experience.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the stir-fried water mimosa with crispy pork, the stir-fried minced pork with Chinese black olives, and the chili dip with crab roe accompanied by fresh local vegetables. Each dish showcased the kitchen's mastery of balancing flavors and textures.
Rongsi Pochana's consistent excellence in serving authentic Thai cuisine, combined with its convenient location, has cemented its status as our go-to restaurant in Bangkok. We look forward to returning time and time again to indulge in the vibrant flavors and culinary artistry that this gem of a restaurant...

Review: Rongsi Pochana Langsuan strikes a balance between vibrant Thai-Chinese flavors and a buzzing atmosphere. The vibe is lively, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Indoors, expect a bit of noise (think chatty tables and upbeat energy). Outdoors, you’ll find charm and greenery, but beware of mosquitoes—they’re the true VIPs of this area.
The food? Delicious, though some dishes can be on the saltier side. Standout recommendations include the tom yum soup and the crispy pork belly, while the cocktails and wine selection complement the experience nicely. Prices, however, lean toward the premium side, so bring your wallet and your appetite.
Service? A mixed bag. Despite a full squad of staff, getting their attention feels like a stealth mission. Oh, and here’s a hot tip: if you’re driving, make sure to get your parking ticket stamped by the staff; otherwise, you’ll pay a premium for parking too—lesson learned the hard way.
Located in Bangkok’s prime CBD area, Rongsi Pochana is surrounded by high-end restaurants and hotels, making it a convenient yet elevated choice for dining.
Pros & Cons in a Bite-Sized Summary: • Pros: Tasty and authentic food, good location, charming decor, and wine options. • Cons: Pricey, inattentive staff, noisy indoor seating, and mosquitoes outdoors.
Final Verdict: If you’re in the Langsuan area, Rongsi Pochana is worth a visit for the food and ambiance. Just come prepared for a little patience, a slightly lighter wallet, and maybe some...

I revisited Rongsi Pochana recently, and it’s still as satisfying as ever. This time I tried
อ้อส่วน (Oyster Omelet on Hot Plate) Rich and flavorful, with medium-sized oysters served sizzling hot—perfect texture and heat. หมูแดดเดียว (Deep-Fried Sun-Dried Pork) Slightly chewy, which I actually enjoyed—it’s the kind of dish that pairs beautifully with a chilled beer. ยำไข่ดอง (Spicy Pickled Egg Salad) This one was a bit too sour for my taste, and the egg itself leaned a bit greasy. It might be hit-or-miss depending on your palate. ผัดยอดมะระเพิ่มหมูกรอบ (Stir-Fried Chayote Shoots with Crispy Pork) Originally only stir-fried chayote shoots on the menu, but I requested crispy pork as an add-on, with an extra charge. Totally worth it! The flavors and textures came together beautifully.
Overall Vibe A great place for casual dining with consistently good food. If you’re in Langsuan and want a relaxed, satisfying Thai meal, this one’s reliable.
Travel Tips Parking There are plenty of parking spots in the Velaa complex. However, as the area is a popular hangout spot, you may need to walk a bit from your car to the restaurant, especially...
