First the good. This hotel is about a 10 mins work to Chidlom station which is then a stop away from Siam. But still a good walking distance. Some hotels like FP Sukhumvit and Aloft would have offered shuttle services.
Now the bad. First let me start with the physical. It’s hot and humid outside and there is hardly aircon in the walkway of our floor. And the lift’s aircon the right hand side one is obviously not working as the other is nice and cool.
Rooms are extremely old and dated with spots and marks on the side table with no power points except behind the side table and which is also not even international.
The whole hotels exudes a dark theme that is probably meant to hide its inadequacies.
Now the very very bad. We had stayed at several Marriott properties and this includes autograph collection in Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chih Min as well as the Tribute collection. Sometimes we make multiple room bookings and then during check in simply provide the other guests’ Marriott number to credit stays which seems a breeze. But this trip we needed only one booking and then cancelled the one we didn’t need but had problem changing out the membership number (which we have done so by adding as a companion / guest staying in the room) but selecting which member to get the stays and night credit.
The staff were not very helpful and instead insisted that their hotel doesn’t allow this and even though I gave scenarios, they were not able to explain and worse still started mumbling in Thai right in front of me.
When we came back to collect our room keys, the duty manager had the audacity to announce “we have triple upgraded your room to our executive room”. But again it’s room only with no other benefits and it’s that old stale room. So honestly no love lost there.
Sent emails to their FOM and was only told she is off. And when asking if we can escalate to anyone, the answer was also no. Given both their FOM and GM email but unresponsive.
Honestly I’ve stayed in almost every hotel under the Marriott brand for the past almost 2 decades since SPG days and a platinum for coming 13 years. And I have never written such a scathing review for a Marriott hotel. But honestly totally undeserving of the Marriott brand and with the exorbitant rates they charge you can get better hotels, rooms and definitely service.
And one more thing, we asked for their umbrella and when we opened them in Siam it had holes and was all rusty inside with the wooden handle all faded and loose already. If the hotel don’t even have the pride to maintain their brand cause this is free publicity then how good can this hotel be. Avoid...
Read moreI stayed at Hotel Muse for 3 days from 9-12 Nov and another 3 days at another hotel, The reason I moved hotel was because I thought the Muse hotel was a bit dark with black old ornaments and seemed less attractive to us.
It turned out I was wrong. The location of the hotel itself is very strategic, close to the Central Embassy, Central World, and Central shopping center. The rooms are clean and the service is very good, from the receptionist to the restaurant and room service. I was so impressed. I want to share my experience below:
We deliberately did not order breakfast when staying at this hotel because we wanted to eat local food. However, on the last day of our stay, we wanted to be more relaxed and decided to have breakfast at the hotel. This hotel has a special breakfast program, which is a 50% discount if you pay at the reception. So my husband paid at the reception while I went straight to the restaurant.
When I entered the restaurant, I saw mango sticky rice, but the mango tray was almost empty. I asked the waiter to refill it. After a few minutes, she came back and told me that there were no more mangoes available in the kitchen. Feeling very disappointed, I went to Alex, the restaurant manager, and reported to him. If you didn't have any more mangoes, you shouldn’t have served them on the table because you have set the wrong expectations. He told me that the delivery truck had a problem this morning, so that’s why they ran out of mangoes.
10 minutes later, I don’t know how Alex did that magic, the waiter served us the mango sticky rice and I was so grateful and thankful to Alex to fulfilling my disappointment. Their mango sticky rice was so delicious and 8 could say one of the best in Bangkok.
Alex is one of the best examples of how the service industry should serve their customers and make us happy. He is very valuable to this hotel.
Thank you for making our stay was so...
Read moreA boutique hotel that served its purpose. Was the price justified? Well, yeah kinda - I stayed for a night and paid slightly over 2500 THB in total, and I really don't have anything to complain about. During check-in, I was required to place a deposit of 2000 THB; which I did with my credit card. The staff were friendly, spoke great English, and were just generally very hospitable. One thing to note: it's a little dark inside from the moment you enter but not really a problem for me (as I prefer that to somewhere overly bright), although I do have one pet peeve - there aren't really signs (or I just couldn't see them) pointing you to the front desk and the lift lobby (or the exit when you're headed out); so there were a couple of times I actually had to make a few awkward turns upon realising that I was headed the wrong way. Not a big issue, though. The room was comfortable, with some of the facilities appearing slightly dated but fully functional. In terms of cleanliness, the hotel did well - although I did find a strand of long hair (I did not have long hair) stuck to my floor towel, which also looked kinda soiled, in the bathroom. There's a bathtub (sadly, mine came with a broken valve knob which wouldn't stop falling off as I was filling the bathtub with water; though the bathtub was still useable) which I did use and it was great for a relaxing, self-pampering night.I did not manage to use the other facilities in the property, and my stay did not include meals. My advice is: if you're perhaps solo-travelling, someone who doesn't really stay too much in the room (I didn't; only used it for some hours of sleep and spent most of the time out and about), and enjoy hotel-hopping (I wanted to try a few different hotels during my stay in Bangkok this time), then this place would be worth a try for a night or two - with all things considered, including price point.Enjoy...
