Firstly id never give less than 5* to small business and a fellow business in the speciality coffee industry. I actually have heard great things about this place in the past and stumbled upon it by chance. Walked in and asked the barista for an espresso with the same amount of hot water on top. I like my coffees with 1:1 ratio, it’s just a preference. He said he couldn’t do this so i asked for a Long Black also said he couldn’t do this and they didn’t alter recipes. Fair, so ended up with just an espresso. Out of curiosity I asked what the recipe was as he just assumed I was another uneducated customer. He said 16in something out, im not going to quote it as i dont remember but the extraction time was 36s. I asked him its on the longer side no? He responded it was cause they roasted their own coffee. Anyway i couldnt actually care as i only asked to make a point cause i was still unsure what recipe he was altering. Just reminded me of the coffee industry in London back in 2019 and Berlin where they refused to make certain drinks cause it didnt fit their mindset. Im glad we have overcome this in London and we put the customers first and try and craft drinks the way they would like to drink it whilst still maintaining the quality of extraction and coffee. It really took me back in time. It’s a shame cause this city and this area really screaming in need of a good coffee shop in terms of an overall package of service, quality and vibe. Just a thought and some...
Read moreA gem, a true gem in the entire city. There’s a handful of solid coffee roasters around but this place takes the cake with how it built a no nonsense approach to serving coffee. I appreciate the aspect of serving no sugar and no wifi.
Decor is lovely, music selection is pleasing and volume is low enough. Front tables face the street and create this moody coffee drinking experience which I like.
Bean selection is plenty, you can get natural or washed varieties which is always a bonus. They prepare V60 with utmost care and nice paper filters. Coffee is served in this sort of asian-esque white cup on top of a somewhat oriental holder, they look complimentary and add to the overall specialty coffee experience. I’d much rather have V60 on a handleless cup like this for a change.
They also have cards present for each bean selection so you can read for yourself all the info on your coffee.
Lastly to touch on the price, it is far more affordable -as we approach 2025- than many greedy specialty coffee places in this city. Think about four euros for each cup.
Also a huge warning, it is indeed only open on Tuesdays as of now. Don’t get your hopes up if you plan to visit in rest of the week...
Read moreThe coffee is fantastic, but the service terrible. I went there twice over the last two weekends and the girl who works in the mornings is totally useless. She seems arrogant, bored and uninterested in providing any info about the coffee. She wouldn’t even give simple recommendations about which beans are best for particular brewing methods or even the roast dates etc…..I mean come on, you’re a coffee roaster that’s fairly new, not everyone knows everything about your entire range, so your staff should be more friendly and willing to share recommendations and info about the coffee. It would haven a 5 star rating without such bad service. Fire her and hire better staff! The other roaster I like is Parsa roasters and their staff are a million...
