My review is only for the pork pie ive just had which was, as you will read, terrible. Not wanting to affect the rating too badly for the whole butcher (Ive not yet had their meat) i have assigned them an average 3 stars. Should i have been able to award stars purely on pork pie quality i would have given only 1.
There were 3 or 4 types of pie on offer and i selected the sweet apple variety. This comprised of an open top with a sort of desert apple pie filling smothered on the meat. The topping wasnt to my taste, a bit too slimy and far too thickly applied. However the real reason for the abismal 1 star is down to the pork itself, which was bordering on none existent. After a couple of bites i proceeded to dig down into the apple, removing layer upon layer, bemused at the fact i still hadnt hit bottom! Finally i grounded on pork, perhaps only a centimeter from pastry!
Tentitively I continued having now removed all apple, hoping that i would taste a quality produced meat (at least). To my utter disappointment it was bland. No hint of herbs (sage, tyme, nutmeg) and no prospect of pepper! Or perhaps it was that despite aeons of human taste bud evolution i was still not able to sufficiently detect the miniscule portion of pork on offer. The pastry seemed ok however at this point I was too disheartened too dejected to properly judge it.
Paul i advise, nay urge you to seek out Stanforth Butchers in Skipton. Their pork pies are something to behold. To have such quality in Saltaire would surely raise our suburb to dizzying new hights. Sadly I am brought back to the present, with my lunch ruined i resign myself to listening to the rain on my windscreen, wondering if the light will ever return to...

Very impressed with the quality of the Bacon, Award winning sausages a lovely texture, would have preferred more seasoning as they were pretty bland Shin Beef was very good quality We also got another few items all were top quality, apart from the chicken breasts in my opinion, huge great things that shrunk alot when sautƩed
Deli I was shocked, style over substance on everything I bought, but worst of all and the reason I'm leaving this review the pork pies were appauling pastry overcooked Dry affairs, hardly any geletin and zero seasoning at a premium price. Scotch eggs, this was a hearty scotch egg with no finess, big handful of sausage meat, round an overcooked egg with packet breadcrumbs and very little seasoning which cost around £4 off the top of my head. , we bought 9 pies all were the same on that particular day, maybe an off batch, either way awful Butchery side I'd return, Deli forget it I'd give the Deli 0 stars if I could Awards are only as good as the day they were given, shame as everything...
