Buonissimo Deli Saltaire — Restaurant in Bradford

Pleasant atmosphere, lovely people – but room for improvement on the food and coffee

We stopped by on a whim to grab a coffee and a pizza. The sun was shining, so we sat outside, and for a moment it almost felt like we were in Italy. The service was warm and welcoming, and the owners clearly care about creating a great experience for their customers.

Unfortunately, the food and drinks didn’t quite live up to the setting. My wife’s latte tasted more like warm milk than coffee, and my black Americano with an extra shot still lacked the strength I’d expect – it didn’t have the kick I normally get from a home-brewed cup.

We ordered pizzas and were told the oven had only just been turned on, so it would take 15 minutes to come up to temperature. We didn’t mind waiting at all – we were enjoying the sunshine. However, when the pizzas arrived, the bases were a little undercooked and soft. I mentioned it, and they kindly offered to pop mine back in the oven, but I declined as I didn’t want to risk it becoming overdone. That said, the toppings were delicious, and we did enjoy them.

All in all, it was a slightly disappointing visit – but not enough to put us off returning. Next time, we’ll be a bit more specific about how we like our coffee and our pizzas cooked. With such friendly service and a lovely setting, we’d like to give them...

I went a week ago, and it has taken me a week to write this review, to make it fair. I ordered the Bolognese, I could see on the shelves, good brands of produce so had high hopes.

What I got served was very disappointing, The pene pasta was bland overcooked mush, and the sauce was swimming in water. Also the sauce was not adhering to the pene making me believe that the pene never came out of one of the nice packets for sale on the deli counter.

There are some great places on the high street in Saltaire but this has to be one of the best. Real genuine Italian deli feel. Coffee here is fantastic and the food is simple but great quality and all reasonably priced. I highly recommend paying it a visit!
