A few weeks a go I tried to redeem a gift card at this store. The member of staff at the till tried a couple of times but explained it wasn't working and contacted a Manager to come and help.
The Manager (who was very polite) came over and explained she felt whoever had given me the card had been scammed and that it didn't seem real as it was cardboard, therefore they didn't honour the £25 value. I did explain that a lot of gift cards these days are cardboard to be more recyclable but she still dismissed this.
I didn't have signal at the time to contact the person who gave it to me to check, so I left the store a little embarrassed and frustrated.
When I was able to, I later contacted the person who gave it to me and she sent me a photo of the receipt for the purchase from Wilko.
I then contacted Wilko Customer Services and they confirmed the card was valid and that it must be an issue with Boots. I then contacted Boots Customer Services who also confirmed the card was valid.
I also went into a local Wilko to see the card available for sale myself, and yes it was cardboard, along with all the other cardboard branded gift cards.
Just went into the store and explained this to a lovely lady who I think is named Trish - she tried a few things on the till and confirmed within a minute the card was valid and had a £25 value. I was then able to redeem it.
Whilst I appreciate the Manager questioning the card at the time, I feel she could have done much more to try and solve the issue rather than send me away embarassed to check with my friend and thenspend about an hour and half on the phone to Customer Services.
Thanks so much to Trish for sorting, you get 5 stars and I think you...
Read moreDisgusting member of staff, a middle aged female who was very rude when I asked if they had a lift so I could get upstairs with my pram to look at the baby products. She said "yes" in a horrible slovenly fashion. I said well where is it please and she said in a really horrible manner, huffing and puffing that she would have to take us up. I had my elderly Mum with me and the 'assistant' said to my Mum "no you'll have to take the stairs".
Good grief, I took the stairs instead and my Mum stayed with my daughter and pram but what an awful woman and Boots is ridiculous. Why have such an out of date shop and why have baby things upstairs with no access to them. This world really is going backwards. Two stars for the nice lady who took us all back down to the ground floor together and was altogether...
Read moreBoots offers PCR Tests for travelers, at £80 a head, which requires testing by a medical professional, results only available in 24-72 hours. But it doesn't offer Rapid Antigen tests, which also require supervised testing by a medical professional, with results given within an hour, for £30 a head. The Rapid Antigen Test can be used by fully vaccinated travellers. The results are quicker, the cost is more than 50 per cent less, so why can't Boots offer this test. It seems as if Boots is like a black-market profiteerer, forcing people to pay exorbitant amounts of money because they have a captive audience. Shame...
