Friendly staff, good food, nice atmosphere… Thin White Duke is somewhat of a hidden gem, those who know about it, KNOW about it! We had booked a table for 2pm on Saturday and I’m glad we did, almost every table was taken - we got given a table downstairs which is so much more chilled and a nicer, almost holiday-esque environment. Our servers were all really friendly, smiley and chatty - we also didn’t have to wait long for our drinks to come. The menu is fantastic and there’s a wide range of meals on there, for this visit I opted for their super popular chicken is a basket and my partner went for the crispy mac and cheese wrap with chips. The food took a little while to arrive but that was to be expected given how busy it was. Our food arrived looking fantastic, the chicken in a basket is brilliant - the fries are delicious, especially when dipped in the chicken gravy which in itself is gorgeous! The chicken wasn’t quite as crispy as I would’ve preferred but it was still tasty! We then got our bill which was quite a good price actually, the food was all priced really well! The only surprise was that the Coke’s were around £4 each which I think is a bit steep - that being said; it is a city centre restaurant so prices do tend to be a bit higher.

Me and my partner went to have spontaneous dinner in town so we didnt plan to go to any specific restaurant. We gone through few restaurants but they were full and end up in Thin White Dukes. (We were here few times) as they had space and also we had 5mins to order food as the kitchen was closing. It was fine with us. We both ordered some burgers and extra chips, and let me tell you, the burger was delicious! At first glance you might think "ohhh its not much on the plate" but trust me, you will be full after your course. Big shout out in the kitchen as we ordered just when they were closing in the kitchen and yet food was nice and warm and burger was really well cooked, just the way I like. Staff was amazing also, they were making sure we were ok and despite how busy it was. When it comes to price, it is pretty good. I cannot complain as for the food and drink we had the price was really good. You won't be disappointed. Definitely recommend this place and I cannot wait when they will reopen as I will go back there once again.

I had stopped to have a look around Carlisle for a couple of hours as a stop gap while travelling over to Newcastle, I ended up becoming quite hungry for some tea and started looking about for which places were highly recommended. This place came up so decided to give it a go, though it was busy and popular the atmosphere was warm and vibrant, the staff were friendly and mostly attentive. I decided to have the Fish & Chips and a pint of the Victoria Málaga Lager as had not seen it on Draught in many places. It is a bit on the expensive side as the Fish & Chips were about £15.50 and a pint was £5.50 however it was most certainly worth it, The Fish & Chips were fresh and melt in the mouth, full of flavour and definitely worth the value of money, the portion was just about right and found myself rather full at the end, it comes down to Quality over Quantity and this place really delivered on that side of things. I would definitely come back here if I should return to Carlisle. Highly Recommended!

Great pub, bit of a tardis to be honest, it looks pretty small from the outside but it's got a few floors, loads of seating for food. We called in on the off chance of grabbing some decent food and it did NOT disappoint. Food was delicious, service was quick, Staff were lovely what more can you ask for. Interior downstairs was a bit quirky, it was alot quiter than upstairs, which was an added bonus. 2 Sunday dinners and a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream to share, 2 pints of larger and 1 pint of coke cost 50 quid. Only downside for me, was there wasn't enough gravy,

We visited here last time we were in Carlisle it was so good we went back to check it out again and weren't disappointed. We had a local guest beer to start, which was really good, and after watching incredibly mouthwatering food pass us by we decided to stay and eat. The food tasted as good as it looked and we enjoyed every second. The place has a great atmosphere, love the paintings and little touches everywhere and I love that it has a history and a story to tell which can still be found if you look for it.... A great place to spend a couple of hours

We went on Wednesday afternoon. We were not greeted at all. The man who was working was so disinterested in his job. I used to go here regularly but the staff just don’t seem to care. £10 for a pint and a G&T is slightly more expensive that other places especially if you include their ambiance. Lastly the waitress was overheard saying horrible things about another restaurant in the historic quarter where we went for food. I felt her comments were derogatory and uncalled for.
