I visited this bar on Saturday with two friends one in his 80s one in his 50s and I’m in my 60s we were served by a new member of staff who told us it was his first day I ordered a pint of cider a vodka & coke and a rum with a bottle of coke rather than from the siphon, another member of staff poured the pint of cider while the new person poured the vodka and coke the new person then poured another pint of cider and a rum with coke from the siphon in it and the bottle of coke we had asked for, I pointed out the mistakes and he apologised removed the second pint of cider and poured another rum. Having finished our drinks and attempting to purchase a second round we were told I assume by the manageress we could not have another round as we had been rude to the staff! None of us have ever been refused service before and two of us are ex publicans! whilst every bar has the right to refuse service I would have expected this manager to have at least discussed what had happened with all parties concerned before making her mind up that the customer was in the wrong needless to say we will not...

We had a 15% off voucher from our AA app, however we paid more using the voucher than we would have paid using the in-house offer on the menu. We were also charged for a garlic bread that was included in one of the menu items. So be careful using money-off vouchers, some times the in-house offers are better. Also be careful what is being added to your bill. The garlic bread was add to our order by mistake and then refunded. However, we need to examine what we would pay using the offer in the menu and then work out what we would save by using our vouchers. Other staff from other pubs understand which is the cheapest option and guide the customer to the best value for money. This didn't happen today, the girl knew that we were making an error but allowed us to go ahead and pay extra. Please do not be mislead by the response to this comment as it places the blame on us and tries to make the staff in the right. Believe me this was not the case.
