Our family of six enjoyed the convenience of staying on the Royal Mile. Awesome for shopping! Our view from the corner of the Royal Mile was perfect. The apartment was appropriate for our group. The setup of the three bedrooms provided privacy. Many praises for the cleaning lady! She went out of her way to assist very tired travellers who had arrived from Canada. The apartment was clean, comfortable & functional. We did very little meal preparation. So the basic kitchen supplies worked for us. Appliances were new. The smart TV was smarter than we were.
One concern was the amount of stairs to climb. Especially with suitcases. We were fortunate to have some young guests, who were staying in the building, assist us old people who are approaching 80 yrs of age. However, the convenience & comfort of the apartment made up for the difficult climb & the drab looking entrance.
Thank you, Jon for making the start of our journey & adjustment the time...

We had a great time at Edinburgh in July 2014 (two weeks). We - two families with 4 adults and 4 children had enough place in this flat. The kitchen is comfortable and all facilities are available. Also a washing machine and dryer are availabel . The 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms met our requirements. The apartment was very clean. We felt at home there. The apartment is located very central, only 5 minutes to Princess Street and 15 minutes to the castel. Perfect for city tours. Arriving late at night was no problem for Jon who gave us a warm welcome and some insider tips for our city explorations. Only the 3 floors with luggage were straining. Really a 5star apartment for city trips in Edinburgh. But trips with car are also no problem because parking at Frederick Street is possible before 8:30am and after 6:30pm. During daytimes a fee of Pound 2,20 per hour is due (max. 4 hours).

Read moreStayed at the John Know house apt. as a group of 5 in October 2014, celebrating my Mum's 60th. The location was perfect, walking distance to the Castle and several other attractions, and Prince's street for shopping. Also very close to Waverley (less than 10 mins walk) for trains and buses. Jon met us there with keys (and even helped with the bags) and gave lots of helpful advice for sightseeing and food (Whiski - just a few doors up. Try their fish and chips!) The apartment was lovely and clean - 2 bedrooms, 1 with a double, the other with 2 singles, and a fold-out double in the living room. Large fully functional kitchen. Lovely clean bathroom with shower and bath. Front room has a bit of street noise (but it was Fresher's week so what do you expect). There is two flights of stairs - not a problem for us but keep in mind if you have small children. Will definitely be...
