We stayed at St Martin apartment in Edinburgh. One major positive is how central it is. However, that pretty much ends the positives there. Overall, the apartment was very dirty. Yes, beds were made but the floors, walls and bathroom felt distinctly dingy. We almost felt dirtier after taking ahower because the bathroom/showers were gross. Disgusting smell wafting up from drains. We could only get one shower to work (with assistance from manager) so as not to alternate minute to minute from SCALDING hot water to freezing. Worsts thing is that wifi appeared to connect but would quickly disconnect. I saw the previous tenant wrote a bad review about it so it was a known problem. Owner came over and said it worked. I showed them numerous photos of “no internet connection” and told them they must have a modem:hardware problem. They set up a cable/internet provider appointment on my last full day in Edinburgh and wanted me to wait from 9a-noon. Yeah no thanks. I’m not your employee and it would be of no use to me at that point. Oh, they. Randomly sent window washers over at 8am one morning saying the apartment was supposed ro be empty. They told you not to use dryer at night because of noise which is funny bc it seems like every drunk in the town decided to have loud conversations right outside your window at all hours of night. Cannot understand positive reviews - maybe it was better maintained at one point hut definitely...

Property - filthy, dangerous and not as advertised. No bed for the 5th person despite advertised as a 5 person property. Broken flooring, cupboards, appliances, window frames. Scummy bathroom. Hairs in the bed. Dirty towels. Bedside wall lights which can't reach any plug socket so rendered useless. Not the standard you would expect from the price. The photos have definitely been photoshopped and make the rooms look a lot larger than they are.
Location - Very central, ideal for getting to all the highlights of Edinburgh. Walking distance to most attractions. It wasn't advertised as being surrounded on all sides with pubs/clubs so very noisy late into the night (especially with the single glazed windows). Perfect 5am wake up call when the glass bottle recycling is collected just outside the window. Truely smashing. It sits on top of a fantastic Indian restaurant so if you like a good curry make sure to try it.
Communication - non-existent. Despite multiple attempts during our stay to get in touch with the host, through multiple platforms, we have yet to get anything outside of a generic automated reply. We're still in the process of trying to get a proper refund.
All in all, a complete let down. Would definitely NOT recommend to anyone wanting a nice getaway to explore Edinburgh. Perfect for those wanting to spend a lot of money on very poor quality...
Read moreAVOID!!! I booked this apartment way back in April 2022 for the rugby this weekend past. 2 days before arriving I received an email to say that my accommodation had been cancelled. There was 9 of us supposed to be staying in the apartment. The email gave no explanation to the cancellation and they offered us other accommodation elsewhere that would only accommodate 6 people - not the original 9 for the same price! I phoned Bonjour Residences that evening when I seen the email for an explanation where I was told the boiler was broken and wouldn't be fixed in time, and that someone would phone in the morning from the residences team to sort my booking further. Needless to say no one phoned me back. Myself and my mother phoned the property for an hour in the morning with no one picking up the phone. I sent emails asking them to phone me back on my phone number which was ignored and answered with a generic email on whether I'd like to cancel the booking or accept the 6 bed apartment. Eventually I got through to someone on the phone and I cancelled my booking with a full refund as we could get accommodation elsewhere for all 9 of us.
We are extremely unhappy as we believe the apartment had been double booked. We walked past the accommodation at the weekend and there were lights on and people moving about inside.
Reading reviews it looks like others have had the same experience. Do not give them your money unless you want to be...
