I’m never one to complain. Especially about Hard Rock Cafe. It’s one of my favourite places to eat wherever I go and have been to Edinburgh so many times. However my visit on Saturday 31st May was not good. We arrived a bit earlier than expected for our table which was fine so we were given a buzzer and went off to bar to have a drink before hand. Waited about 10 mins and was seated. We were sat in the small room at the back. I must admit it was my first time in all my visits I had been sat there and it did lack the atmosphere that the main restaurant has. When sat the host said just checking you know your dining time is 1hr 30 mins. We said yes this was fine. However from then it went downhill. 20 minutes we sat before even a drinks order was taken. As we had drinks from bar before we just asked for water initially with our food. About 5 mins after ordering our server John was passing and we asked for 2 cocktails. Another 20 mins and food arrived. This was the next disappointment. I order the duo fajitas, the amount of times I have ordered them I have never had 4 small slices of chicken and 4 slices of steak. The chicken ‘messi’ burger was exactly as it sounded. Messy. Slapped on the plate with chips slapped on the side. Perhaps I should have complained about the food quality at the time but I do get anxious about complaining directly. Also still no drinks had come. I held off as a thought it’s fine they are just busy. People that were just sat at table next to us, ordered drinks and had drinks delivered to them while we were eating. We finished our meal and I said to the server that we had ordered drinks but never got them. We were now finished our food and still no drinks so could I please have the bill. He did offer the cocktails on the house if we would like and then he would get the bill. I did agree to this however at this point I really just wanted to leave. Not forgetting the 10% service charge that was still applied to the bill regardless. Having visited London last month and having an amazing experience at Piccadilly, previous great visits at Edinburgh this was a major let down. Always my go to when I visit Edinburgh. I am aware an event was on at Murrayfield and it was busy but regardless service and good standards shouldn’t lack. I can’t see me wanting to return anytime soon to be honest. Which is a shame as i said it’s one of my favourite places for atmosphere and food and cocktails. This visit...
Read moreBy far the worst place I have ever eaten out. Me and my girlfriend went here for some food. We waited 5 mins at the door whilst the servers had a little chat. Then once we were given a server she told is to just sit there. We both weren't happy with the seating arrangement so asked to be moved. Our server left and didn't come back untill she asked do u want a drink we then waited 15 mins to be served a drink so by that time we didn't ask AGAIN to be changed tables. We ordered food and I had mine chucked Infront of me and I was snarled at whilst my partner had her food placed down in front of her with a smile and I hope you enjoy darling. We both found this to be out of order. Once our food came my girlfriend laughed as it looked atrocious . The chicken was pink Greasy and inedible my burger was the same not even placed in the bun properly and tasted foul. We both ate 1 bite and decided it was vile. We made a complaint to the server who seemed to be much too busy to deal with us....we explained food wasn't right and again she disappeared. We waited with a dissatisfied look on our face but the server never returned. We got our things and headed to the door where we were met by another server who asked was your food ok. I proceded to tell the server about complaint previously made to the thing serving us. I told him of my disappointment and that if he looked at our table he could tell we hadn't ate any of it or even drank the drinks as they tasted funny as well for us both. The manager said oh that's really bad and handed me the payment machine. To save embarrassment we just payed the bill and left, I don't think we should have payed a penny as it was so bad and I am requesting a full refund! Ps the thing that serves us was very rude and didn't even present as a server she presented as just a mess and had very little idea how to help us. To slam food down in front of someone as if I had done something wrong then to say to my girlfriend hello daaaaarrrling is there anything elce I can do to help you... Then snarling at me like an angry cat ,is out of order and action needs taken. I would avoid this place like the plague. Go to wether spoons and get a better service for about £30 cheaper. Never had such bad...
Read moreThe Hard Rock Cafe is now thought of as the American Embassy between my wife Dawn and I So... June 19th, we had been traveling for a month throughout Europe and the UK . We arrived in Edinburgh late (LATE) due to Rail delays and unbeknownst to us Edinburgh rolls up its sidewalks at 9:00pm , including the five star hotel accommodations we were fortunate enough to be staying in . We went out in the mile square in the dark in the rain looking for dinner. By the time we happened across Hard Rocks front entry it was almost 11pm and I hesitantly asked the same question I’d asked a dozen other restauranteurs within the mile square , “any chance your kitchen is open that we could get dinner?” Already expecting to get the polite but quick ,”no sorry “. Hard Rock Edinburgh instead said,” you guys look frazzled come on in we can make it work for you”! They truly were ready to close up the kitchen but they made time and space to allow us to view the menu and make selections and place our orders just as if we were there during the mid eve dinner hours . The staff could not possibly have been more friendly and accommodating. Our server was patient and so friendly even sharing short conversation with us to make us feel more like regulars instead of red eye flight one nighters. The management made sure that we were taken care of and the food was fresh and hot and prompt. We were allowed to wind down and not hurried with the check . So , just as our American Embassy’s are to be safe haven for American citizens abroad The Hard Rock was our safe haven in the “after hours” Edinburgh “food desert” We were made believers that night in Hard Rocks welcoming atmosphere and attitude and so we completely recommend Hard Rock aka “The American Embassy” to anyone but especially the tired , hungry, yearning to buy a quality dinner in a cozy familiar...
