David James Estate Agents — Local services in Gedling

I am giving David James 2 stars rather than 1 only because the agents I encountered when viewing properties were lovely; I felt that they were interested in me as a buyer, knew the properties that they were showing, and helped me to find a property I loved. Thank you Claire and Nick.

Unfortunately, my experience as a buyer with the sales team past that point was awful. My experience is as a buyer, but I would not recommend selling your property with David James.

Whilst viewing properties and being encouraged to put in an offer, I was inundated with calls on a daily basis. I was encouraged to review properties I had seen, reminded to view properties again, and chased about my interest in my final property. When I did make an offer, I received about 10 calls and emails in one day.

After my offer was accepted and I was moved to the 'sales negotiation' team, the communication disappeared. If it weren't for my fantastic solicitors, I would have had no idea a property negotiation was taking place. Despite multiple attempts to contact David James and my 'assigned' sales negotiation rep across a period of 5 months, my emails and calls were never answered. I had no concept of what exactly David James was doing during this time.

Despite them making a good commission off the sale of this property, I do not have any real idea of what exactly they have done to earn this - as far as I am aware, all negotiations took place entirely between my solicitor and the vendor's, with the estate agent happily sitting idle.

Only at the point of sheer frustration, 4 months later, when I threatened to pull out of the sale, did I finally receive a reply from my 'sales negotiator' - letting me know that 'everything was moving smoothly', and that she would chase my other queries from months previous.

So if you are planning to sell through David James, please be aware that from my experience they may not be doing much to...

After a year of looking to move and at various properties and contacting various agents, it was honestly a breath of fresh air to come across David James Estate Agent. Their lettings negotiator Grace made the process so simple and she couldnt of been more friendlier or helpful. From the viewing, to the application process, to the moving in, it was all so efficient and easy to do. It wasn't such a simple move either as we were moving from Bournemouth to Nottigham (doing it ourselves!) which was one big stress in itself, but Grace was accommodating with the viewing availability and on move in day, she made sure the keys and paperwork were all ready to collect in the office. Which after over a 3hour drive with 2 kids in toe was really appreciated. As mentioned above the application was so simple to do. It was all done via emails and online forms and unlike some estate agents we've had experience with, they weren't really intrusive into personal details. Any questions we had were answered almost instantly and nothing ever seemed like too much trouble. So a massive 'Thank You" to Grace for making our big move a lot...

The service from David James was first rate from start to finish. We had very detailed advice and guidance when deciding to list the property which instilled confidence, and the photography and resultant sales details were very professional. Our actual sale spanned two very different periods for the property market and we had the disappointment of a collapsed chain. During both sale processes we received exemplary guidance from Vicky Ingram, who at all times worked in our interests to secure the best deal and achieve a sale. Vicky counselled us through the crazy times of the peak market, and then after the market dropped off and we needed to re-market, she was able to help us with her experience, knowledge, and perhaps most importantly, a good sense of humour when things were getting a bit tense. It wasn’t an easy sale, but Vicky was the “spider in the web” pulling everything together all of the way through and making sure we got the sale done and at a fair price.
