Coppers looks really good as a building.. We went in for a full english breakfast. Had to asked passing waitress where do we order food.. After standing at the bar for a while and bar staff very busy by seeing you but ignoring and carrying on. She showed me and took our order. (She didn't mention that there is over a hours wait for food)🤯. We waited 20 minutes just for our drinks. Another customer went up and asked how long there food is going to be as they been waiting over an hour. I looked around where we was sat and saw alot of customers with cutlery wrapped up and no food.. I waited 10 minutes after that customer as it was approching our hour wait. The waitress who served me said that their is only 1 chef on today has the other chef is poorly. She looked at the tickets on the back on the wall and said we should be next. I said we had to be somewhere at 11.50am and it was 11.15am and if she had said there is a long wait for food we would have gone elsewhere, giving people the right choice if they stayed or not... (We ordered our food at 10.20am). She asked us if we needed anymore drinks I said no thank you. We had drunk our drinks ages ago but if our food did come then we might have been hanging around for the drinks to be served.. We waited 10 mins. I nipped to the loo. When I came back, my husband and son told me that the chef had come downstairs and had a wobble and told the staff off in front of customers. Stating he's not very well and theres only me on and he wont rush for anyone and he will take as long he wants so they can wait when hes ready. Not very good and very unproffessional.. No wonder the staff were miserable and didnt want to serve you at the bar incase you was going to enquire about the long wait. I felt sorry for them to be put into that position. After 11.40am our food arrived. The breakfast was ok and hot but black pudding didnt taste right and we had to eat it quickly. Which wasn't good as then you dont enjoy it as much.... Like I said the building looked good.. but we wont be returning and if management who owns this place should be reading this, then I would recommend you re-train your staff on customer services and employing a part-time chef to take the pressure of main chef to help out during these times when needed. Obviously not a happy working environment to be when above factors...
Read moreMy third visit to this Cafe was by far the worst! Our first experience, just over a year ago was the most pleasant and it seems to have just gone further and further downhill since. I am currently 39 weeks pregnant and ordered breakfast for my partner and myself this morning, everything just seemed like too much effort! The guy (possibly the manager) on shift took our order at the bar, I asked for “well done” eggs on both breakfasts, asked to swap the bacon to a sausage (which seemed like I asked to move Mount Everest!) and a decaf coffee, all three requests seemed like too much hassle, almost got an eye roll for them! We were informed there was currently a 20 minute wait as they were busy, although not all tables were full. 25 minutes later we got our coffees, and 30 minutes after that we got our breakfasts after asking “how much longer?”. We wanted to cancel the order but was told it was just coming , so we accepted that and sat back down. For the full English breakfast we were served toast without butter that crumbled when trying to cut it (as if it was kept warm too long), burnt egg around the edges but runny in the yolk (I couldn’t eat this being pregnant), burnt, bland sausages and hash browns, and a mushroom that looked more shrivelled up than an elderly elephant in the desert! The eggs royale was served on a stiff, dry breakfast muffin, brown salmon (didn’t look too attractive or fresh!) and questionable eggs (my partner picked out some strange, wobbly brown blobs/balls out of it which put him off completely).
Needless to say we were less than impressed! A waitress came to ask us “is everything okay?” I explained the issues which was met with “ah I thought that might be the case, I’ll let the manager know” …were they expecting bad reviews?! We waited about 5 minutes for her to come back with a response but got nothing, so ended up leaving with no sign of even an apology!
We heard several others complaining and walking out during our visit, this will definitely be our last visit here unfortunately. Such a shame as it was...
Read moreAwful customer service (manager Jack) Appalling customer service, Rude Manager, don’t go…
We ordered afternoon tea (scones and a hot drink) drinks which arrived within 10 minutes at which point we asked how long the scones would take and were told they come separately from the kitchen but shouldn’t be long a further 15 minutes later I had to ask again where scones were , the waitress went to find out and eventually they arrived.
So at this point we now had cold drinks!
I explained to the waitress that we’d had to wait so long our drinks were cold and couldn’t we have a hot top up. She was lovely said keep your existing drinks and she’d get us some fresh drinks.
It was then with much embarrassment that the waitress came back to inform us that her manager (Jack) had said if we wanted our drinks to come with our scones WE SHOULD ASK FOR THIS WHEN ORDERING ?!? And because we had drank half our drinks (obviously we didn’t anticipate such a long delay) we COULD NOT have any more ?
I agreed if ordering a main meal , asking for drinks at the same time , was perhaps true ( at a push) but for an afternoon tea ( as it states on the menu ) is a hot drink and scone , we should not have a ask for these to arrive together, she went on the say the kitchen was short staffed and apologised.
I pointed maybe we should have been informed about this when we arrived and we couldn’t of been mindful of this when ordering.
I asked to speak with her manager and was informed he was busy preparing drinks ! And wouldn’t come to discuss anything with us .
So when leaving I asked him if he thought he had provided good customer service , he said I could see it was very busy ( which I couldn’t as I was upstairs) and he felt his decision was justified .
I think he was busy, understaffed and he made a poor decision and if he’d been honest it would of been better, as it is I will never be going here again and I will make sure I tell everyone else I know not to bother ,...
