Impossible Motel is a truly unique (and amazing!) hotel right in the very centre of York. The building used to be a bank and has bedrooms underground in the old bank vaults! There are 13 bedrooms all styled very differently. In one of the vault rooms there is a bed suspended on chains (I can imagine this room is popular for couples if you catch my drift! 😮). There are also many more romantic rooms with four poster beds, roll top baths and two of the very highest rooms have rooftop terraces and their own private hot tubs! When I mentioned it was central, I meant it. There are few hotels in York more central than this. All of York's history is on your doorstep. It's spooky, and quirky and oh so stylish. The only problem I foresee is that with such an amazing place and a restaurant and bar on tap - you won't want to leave the hotel to explore fabulous York! @Impossible York #york #impossible #amazinghotels #hotelroom #quirky #stylish #vault #romanticizeyourlife #spooky #hotelhideaway #hotels #bucketlist #luxurylifestyle #haunting

Unfortunately we were told to send an email to the manager with these points which we did, and haven't heard back, so here is our review: We booked into one of the basement rooms. Firstly, we loved the look of the hotel and the staff were very polite and professional but we were however, very underwhelmed and disappointed with the room we stayed in due to the black mould found in the room and also the noise disturbance for most of the late night into the early morning (the hotel is attached to a bar). I have since seen on various reviews that guests were advised beforehand that the room may be noisy, which we weren't. We also were not offered ear buds because of the noise which it seems others were when we rang reception very early morning to say we were struggling to sleep. The staff seemed surprised when we checked out when we informed them of the mould in the room, so I have attached pictures. We obviously expected a level of damp/smell due to the position of the room, however it was very overwhelming and when we returned after our meal and got ready to sleep we quickly could see all of the mould around the room, mainly in the toilet and shower area, but it also ran along the bottom of the walls. Another point to mention that wasn't huge, but we asked at reception when we checked in for a bar of soap for the toilet to be told they had none? So we had to go and buy some hand soap for the room to be able to wash our hands after using the loo which again, isn't very luxury- the soap dish was just left empty. The member of staff that checked us in also removed some cleaning spray that was left in our room when she let us in. It was our night away from home and our 2 young children so as you can imagine, we were looking forward to a lovely stay after travelling 2 hours from Burnley. We could have put up with the noise as it did seem to settle at around 3am but sleeping in a mouldy room is just a step too far. We totally understand that everyone has their own tastes and you can't please everyone but black mould is dangerous and needs to be addressed. We would have been happy to move to another room but unfortunately none were available for us to move into when we called early morning after trying to get some sleep. With the complete lack of response or acknowledgement from the manager I would recommend avoiding this hotel.

Truly shocking experience ! ||Apparently I booked the dungeon room, this room is in the basement and not fit for purpose for any law abiding human ! ||It is a a cell, no windows, small, limited lighting which means you can’t even get ready in the mirror, it smells of a basement, cold concrete flooring with no rug and a toilet with no door! ||I can only express how shocked I was when I walked in, £190 for a room that I would expect if I was in Police Custody for the night ! ||My only explanation for this room is for people who a sexual fetish for being treated as a prisoner and get sexual gratification by being degraded . ||||I would NEVER stay here or recommend to anyone ! ||||I complained about the room and apparently I was lucky to get a room on an upper floor, let me tell you, when I saw the carpet, toilet door, no smell and a window I was delighted. Sadly these are the basics the majority of people expect . ||I had to pay and additional £30 for this room so £ 220 in total. This room was amazing compared to the cell, but again it was below average for any normal accommodation, tiny bathroom that you can’t dry yourself in, the sink is placed behind the toilet and just inconvenient! ||The lighting is better , but the mirrors are crap! The noise outside is terrible and I was kept awake until 4am ( this is mentioned on their website) .||||The whole experience was that poor I have had to laugh about it, I’ve told everyone how they should never book this motel from hell . They don’t even do breakfast ! ||To sum this motel up, I can only assume that the basement rooms are from the film THE HOSTEL and we made a lucky escape ! ||Oh and they refused to refund the £30 claiming that everything I highlighted is on their website . I think you’ll find that the smell , lack of lighting and not having a rug was not on the website . ||If you do book you need to read every detail and don’t expect the basics in the basement /...
