A Mixed Experience at Bottomless Brunch.
My wife and I recently had the opportunity to enjoy a bottomless brunch here. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated at our reserved table, which was a great start. However, the initial excitement waned as it took a frustrating 15 minutes for a server to come over and take our first drinks order, a delay that seemed exacerbated by the restaurant's bustling atmosphere and the limited staff on hand.
Once our first cocktails arrived, the service noticeably improved. The staff became more attentive, swift, and efficient, ensuring that our glasses remained topped up and promptly delivering subsequent orders. It was a relief to see the team pick up the pace and provide a more seamless dining experience after the shaky start.
Regrettably, the food failed to meet our expectations. Both my wife and I ordered tacos, only to be disappointed by the fact that they arrived at our table stone cold. After flagging this issue with our server, we had to request replacements, which did come eventually. The lackluster quality of the food was a letdown, especially during a brunch where we had hoped to indulge in a satisfying meal.
Fortunately, the management did address our concerns towards the end of our meal by offering a reduction off the final bill, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the cold dishes. While we appreciated this gesture, it did little to fully remedy the disappointment we felt regarding the overall dining experience.
In conclusion, our bottomless brunch outing was a mixed bag. While the delayed service at the beginning and the cold food were notable downsides, the attentive staff and the effort made to rectify the situation were commendable. With some improvements in the kitchen and better coordination between the staff, this establishment has the potential to offer a more enjoyable dining experience for...

But when asked if we could eat up on the outside upstairs terrace on a gorgeous hot sunny day, we were told "Yes, but only if you order your food thru the QR code on the menu". REALLY ??!. I asked again as I thought I had misunderstood this, but no. We didn't want to sit in the dark and very hot downstairs in this weather, almost on the verge of going elsewhere if it weren't so late in the afternoon, we went upstairs outside. Not surprisingly, we were the only ones up here. Now ordering about a dozen different tapas dishes for 2 adults and 3 kids along with drinks took some time to do thru this ridiculous system. Good job my wife had her phone, as mine doesn't work with QR codes, as probably many others don't. Imagine how many £1000s a month you must be losing out on in this weather - especially with elderly - non tech savvy people (eg my dad) who don't even have smart phones as well as people who just cant be bothered to do it this way. There are tons of nearby restaurants with outdoor seating that are easy alternatives to go to. Also the amount of 'upselling' an actual 'person' can do by simply talking to a family - ie : recommendations, xtra portions, etc etc. If the downstairs was busy, I could possibly understand this, but there were a handful of tables occupied. Could this guy really not have spared a few minutes and walked up the stairs to take our order ??. Very bizarre, I'm assuming you'll be adopting a similar system to dining in downstairs soon too ?. Not really appropriate either to ask for a tip thru the QR code ordering when there's been no 'Service' to speak of. We've been coming here for years, food was terrific, but this was very bizarre and a sad...
Read moreOne of the worst first contact/ welcome I had in York. I have moved for about 2 months in York and visited at least 50 venues in this time. Always meeting kind people and nice Yorkshire hospitality. This time, I was strolling the streets of York by myself and decided to stop even to my surprise at Las Iguanas, I remember the brand from London , where the bar has a good vibe and good for a chat, even if their cocktails are under ?? , professionals bartenders , knows what I am talking about. I used to run in London quite big venues like Aqua Shard, The Boundary rooftop where guests are always welcome.anyways enougj about me. I have tried to enter for a drink at around 20:30 and the security tried to stop me for the staff to be able to find me a table , I mean more then half of the venue was empty, with all the bar tables empty. I have said to him , I just want to have a drink at the bar , no need for a table . He replied , we don’t allow guests at the bar , because is no bar service….. I mean , is Las Iguanas, their bars supposed to be busy and full of vibe , not only boring table service.
Anyways - first point of contact should be always nice , positive , welcoming , specially in a Wednesday evening,
If thats how Las Iguanas like to conduct their business and treat their guests , they can count me out then.
I do not write reviews just for the sake of it , and do not like to spend time writing reviews , however, what I am trying to flag to their management is that first point is so important, and I have been put off ,
He didn’t say do not come in , however stop me at the door , attitude , too many questions and so on. Come on guys, wake up, is Wednesday , you are not even half full and untrained security...
