The Globe is one of Leicester's most beloved pubs, with a rich history that dates back to the 18th century. It's located at 43 Silver Street in the city center, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors. Here’s a deeper dive into its key features:

History The Globe has been serving patrons since at least the late 1700s, making it one of the oldest pubs in Leicester. Its long history is reflected in the traditional décor, which includes wooden beams, exposed brick, and a classic pub atmosphere. Over the centuries, it has maintained its reputation as a central meeting place in Leicester, evolving with the times while preserving its historical charm.

Ambience The pub has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with cozy seating areas and a welcoming feel that makes it a great place to unwind. The interior blends historical elements with contemporary comfort, including traditional wooden furnishings, old photographs, and even a fireplace that adds to the charm during colder months.

Menu The Globe offers a wide range of food and drink options, catering to different tastes. Their menu typically includes:

Traditional Pub Fare: Classic British dishes like fish and chips, bangers and mash, pies, and Sunday roasts. Modern Dishes: Alongside the traditional offerings, you can find more contemporary options, such as burgers, salads, and vegetarian/vegan dishes. Drinks: The pub is known for its selection of real ales, ciders, and an array of spirits. They often feature local and guest ales, making it a great place for beer enthusiasts.

Events and Activities The Globe often hosts a variety of events, including: Live Music: Regular live performances from local bands and musicians. Quiz Nights: Popular weekly or monthly quiz nights that draw a crowd. Specials: They frequently run specials, particularly around holidays and major sporting events, where the pub becomes a lively spot to watch games.

Popularity The Globe is particularly popular among students, given its proximity to Leicester’s universities, but it also attracts a diverse crowd, including professionals, tourists, and regulars who have been...

The Globe Pub is a real gem tucked away in Leicester’s city centre, one of the oldest and most historic pubs in the area, and you can feel that character as soon as you step inside. The traditional decor, complete with old school beams in the floors and a classic layout, gives it that timeless, cozy feel.

Though the pub is relatively small and can get quite crowded, it’s cleverly divided into different areas with two bars, making it feel like a mini labyrinth of comfort. It’s a great place for couples, friends or even small families to relax and take in the atmosphere.

They serve solid pub food, think proper hearty fare, and there are loads of little touches that keep the experience fun and engaging. From Cocktail of the Week to Bring Your Own Records Vinyl Night (every first Tuesday of the month), there’s always something going on. Saturdays from 11 am, they do a “Global Breakfast,” and Thursdays are “Pie Pie” night, order any pie and get a free pint or small glass of wine. Great value and a really fun idea.

The pints are very ale focused, which suits the traditional vibe perfectly. If you’re not sure what to go for, they offer tasting paddles so you can sample three different ales in smaller measures, a great way to explore their selection. They also have Blue Moon on tap for something a little different. Wine options are a bit limited, they only had sweet wine available when we visited, so something drier would’ve been welcome, but it’s still a nice visit overall.

The Globe strikes a great balance between tradition and community vibe. It’s a charming, character filled spot that adds a lot to Leicester’s pub scene. Highly recommend...

Always love this pub normally but was really disappointed when I took my father there on Tuesday the 25th of October, there was a young woman behind the bar that was I think surgically attached to her phone! I felt I had really disturbed her texting to ask for to pints of Guinness, now being a bit of a connoisseur of Guinness and knowing exactly how it should be poured imagine my horror when she poured both pints in one fell swoop! just because she wanted to get back to her texting!! I pulled a face and said that hasn't been poured properly and she said yes it has, my 86 year old dad didn't want to make a fuss so we just took it and sat down, for the whole time we were there that girl did not put her phone down once I even spoke to a couple more people in the pub about how rude and unprofessional it was I watched a man standing at the bar trying to get her attention to order a drink, she hadn't even noticed him stood there in what seemed like ages because she was far too busy on her phone, we would have stayed for a couple more drinks but the Guinness was awful and the service even worse. If the owner/manager reads this review please ban phones for...

Called in here for lunch, staff were pleasant. Ordered a couple of baguettes as menu is rather pricey. 9 quid per baguette. Here comes the review on food... Fish baguette seemed fine, chips were seasoned but with added salt (the wife likes salt on her chips but I don't. If menu had stated this I would have requested the salt not to be added). Proper home made chips too so was pleased with this aspect. I ordered a chicken and bacon baguette. This is where the food went downhill. What I expected was chicken chunks around 1cm Squared in size and accompanied with a strip of bacon on the top and possibly a side of pesto in a ramekin. Instead I received a cold jumble that looked like it had already been chewed. The bacon (when I finally found some) was a 1mm lardon that fell through the fork and onto the floor. Alas I had no bacon. Beautiful building, friendly staff but overpriced for something we could have had better in a Wetherspoons. Overall I think if they rethink how the baguettes are constructed it would be worthwhile.
