Highland Whisky Shop — Local services in Great Britain

My fiancé and I spent a day in Inverness during a trip to Scotland, and decided to walk from our AirBnB to the downtown core. Along this walk we came across The Highland Whisky shop just before you enter the no driving area. We were greeted by a very friendly man named Andy running the shop. We looked at the grand selection of whiskies and right as we were ready to continue down the road, the shop owner let us know that he and a rep from Gordon & Macphail were running a very reasonably priced, 6 dram tasting that evening, to which we excitedly paid for and returned later that evening.

The event was awesome. A small group sitting around a bar table sipping very unique whiskies I have never tried before, with the guidance of the shop owner (Andy) and the rep, who were both incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. This turned what would have been a fairly mediocre evening in Inverness into one of our trip highlights. Thank you so much for approaching us in store. I do not recall the gentleman's name, but after a week of driving all over Scotland looking for a very specific hard-to-find scotch that was simply impossible to find, I popped in here and shared my sob story with a very intense fellow who listened to my woes and then asked me to wait a minute while he looked. 5 minutes later he popped out of the rear cloakroom with the exact unicorn bottle I wanted, and upon query, also explained that he only had two bottles left in inventory. I offered to relieve him of such a heavy burden, bought both bottles, and can now return home with my pride intact. From desperation to elation...

We came in looking for a specific Glenmorangie 16-year whiskey. It unfortunately was not available. The ladies working there did suggest a few different alternatives and we considered them, but did have our heart set on the one we’d come in for. They suggested going to a local bar and trying a few and then coming back to buy if we liked them. It was a bit disappointing that they couldn’t offer small samples in the store as we’d have probably bought something.
