Several friends recommended Gellion's to us; however, we regretted going. This was our first trip to Inverness and Gellion's ended up being the worst worst experience by far in the three days we spent in this wonderful city. When ordering our second drink tonight (Thursday), I waited over 15 minutes at the bar leaving my wife at our table. After being overlooked for the third time, I tried to explain to the female bar staff that I had been in the queue longer than the person she was serving. I was not prepared for the angry, irrational tirade that came my way. There was a whole bar to serve and it was impossible to keep track of who was next, I was told. Having worked in a bar for many years, I told her I appreciated that but I had been waiting quite a while and longer than the person she was serving. I asked if she would take my order only to be told that she was too busy. She then went on to ignore me and serve the person that came to the bar after me. I am by no means a shrinking violet, but she was incredibly rude. We decided to leave and go to the Highlander to continue and end our night. While it was more busy than Gellion's, the staff were more than friendly and we didn't have to wait to be served. Won't be rushing to this bar again. However, I can recommend The Highlander if you want a good night and respectful,...
Read moreMy family from Denmark (6 persons) visited this bar thursday evening the 13th of June in order to enjoy a pint or two and to listen to folk music. I asked for a Tap, and although it is against good policy (as card information might be stolen) they insisted to store my credidcard.
We had about 2 glases each, and I asked for my Tap to be closed and to pay the bill. Much to my surprise the bill was more than 50 pound and included coffe and vodca - I asked them to produce a more correct bill.
Then they asked what we have been eating - but we have not been eating anything - which was than that I in a loud voice insisted the I would not tollorate to get cheeten and would like to receive the correct bill.
I had to interview each of my family members in order to get the correct list, from which they then produced the right bill of about 21. pound - which I then payed.
Then the asked me to appoligyse for my loud voice previously having received no correct bills - which I refused - and was then asked to leave the bar - non of us having the possibility to tast the last round of pints we had received and payed for.
I certainly hope that this very bad experience on mishandling trust in a very non-servicing way was a sign of a single bad manager decision on a bad day, and not something more genuin to the otherwise beautifull area...
