Several friends recommended Gellion's to us; however, we regretted going. This was our first trip to Inverness and Gellion's ended up being the worst worst experience by far in the three days we spent in this wonderful city. When ordering our second drink tonight (Thursday), I waited over 15 minutes at the bar leaving my wife at our table. After being overlooked for the third time, I tried to explain to the female bar staff that I had been in the queue longer than the person she was serving. I was not prepared for the angry, irrational tirade that came my way. There was a whole bar to serve and it was impossible to keep track of who was next, I was told. Having worked in a bar for many years, I told her I appreciated that but I had been waiting quite a while and longer than the person she was serving. I asked if she would take my order only to be told that she was too busy. She then went on to ignore me and serve the person that came to the bar after me. I am by no means a shrinking violet, but she was incredibly rude. We decided to leave and go to the Highlander to continue and end our night. While it was more busy than Gellion's, the staff were more than friendly and we didn't have to wait to be served. Won't be rushing to this bar again. However, I can recommend The Highlander if you want a good night and respectful,...

My family from Denmark (6 persons) visited this bar thursday evening the 13th of June in order to enjoy a pint or two and to listen to folk music. I asked for a Tap, and although it is against good policy (as card information might be stolen) they insisted to store my credidcard.

We had about 2 glases each, and I asked for my Tap to be closed and to pay the bill. Much to my surprise the bill was more than 50 pound and included coffe and vodca - I asked them to produce a more correct bill.

Then they asked what we have been eating - but we have not been eating anything - which was than that I in a loud voice insisted the I would not tollorate to get cheeten and would like to receive the correct bill.

I had to interview each of my family members in order to get the correct list, from which they then produced the right bill of about 21. pound - which I then payed.

Then the asked me to appoligyse for my loud voice previously having received no correct bills - which I refused - and was then asked to leave the bar - non of us having the possibility to tast the last round of pints we had received and payed for.

I certainly hope that this very bad experience on mishandling trust in a very non-servicing way was a sign of a single bad manager decision on a bad day, and not something more genuin to the otherwise beautifull area...

I have socialised in this bar many times over the years since my friend bought her B&B 10 years ago
always had good fun until last night ‘ HOGMANAY ® again was having a good time until the bouncer approached my sister who was enjoying listening to he singer
was asked to leave ! After her she asked why
the next thing we knew the police then arrived and escorted my sister outside !!!! Having been completely dumbfounded on what actually happened
we came to the conclusion that the power hungry bouncer needed to make his night more interesting and get some action in !!!!! ‘ PATHETIC ‘ And as we suspected as per usual.. were in another bar this eve and said bouncer passed me ® on his night off ‘ and said ‘ oh did you get in touch with the police ‘ and then laughed
if that isn’t being provoked I don’t know what is ????!!! Well im sorry not quite sure who some of these bouncers think who they are ? Supposed to be there to to keep people safe .. however it can be quite the opposite ! At this point tread carefully going in to...

Very lively and one of a kind experience during the live music sessions. Even at 6 pm on weekends it’s full of people and energy. I came here for the first time as a tourist and I was not at all disappointed. It was a fun experience to listen to Scottish live performances. Now I live in Inverness and I come here every Saturday. Gellions Bar is the oldest venue in Inverness and features live music 7 days a week, along with an extensive range of Scottish Gins, Whiskys and Beers. They feature a wide range of cask and craft beer, with 24 taps in the building, and always have at least 8 Scottish Beers on draught dispense. From legendary house band Schiehallion, Scottish folk legends like Davy Holt, to up and coming new talent from the likes of Callum Mackenzie Jones or Ruairidh Maclean, Gellions is truly the home of live music. SUMMER SCHEDULE -Scottish live music 7 days a week. Early bands: - 6:00pm Monday to Friday - 5:30pm Saturday and Sunday Late Bands: - 9:30pm Monday to Friday -10:00pm Saturday and Sunday

Nice place, the first impression is WOW but then you see the reception desk, which was well worn and tacky looking. It made me look for other faults. Really liked the leisure facilities, especially the outdoor hot tub and sauna. The bar area felt very welcoming and comfortable, 2 roaring coal fires. On a negative note the bar person had to hunt for a wine menu! Food was nice, although I had to ask for tge sourdough which was ment to accompany the prawn starter. Breakfast was nice, I didn't like the tea and the waitress changed it, no issue. Service was good. The beverage tray in the room was outstanding, really enjoyed tasting the various teas and the Tunnocks tea cakes/wafers.

An Inverness institution with real character—claiming roots back to 1841 and widely regarded as the city’s oldest pub—Gellions delivers nightly live Scottish music (ceilidh/folk vibes often led by local favorites like Schiehallion), a buzzing crowd of locals and travelers, and a strong pour list to match. Expect 24 taps across cask and craft plus an extensive line-up of Scottish whiskies and gins; it’s the kind of room where a pint easily turns into a singalong. Arrive early on weekends if you want a seat—peak sessions pack out fast.
