I'm from Inverness and my partner and I went here for a breakfast whilst back in the area visiting. The service was good and the waitress was very nice and polite. However, I'm sorry to say that the breakfast food was quite bland and I didn't finish it. This is not normally the case for me but it just wasn't very good unfortunately. Also when we got the bill it was 34 pounds for two breakfasts with 2 coffees and 2 cans of coke. The coffees were supposed to be part of the breakfasts so who knows why the cost was so high for two breakfasts? I'd like to say were lovely but that simply wasn't the case. We never mentioned it at the time as it was too late once we had the bill and we are not a couple to make a scene. We paid then left and if I have to be honest then I'd have to say that we would not return.
Update after owners response: the rising costs of mushrooms and bacon have not gone up so much that these prices were warranted! You Do not stand out over others! This was a greasy fry up that could be had anywhere! I tried to be constructive but you are overly arrogant for a person who can't even write!
I'm starting to think it's not just CBD oil you sell in the cafe and you must be high on your own supply!
With this response I am not surprised that the cafe was of a poor food standard. You cannot simply repeat the mantra that you believe you are great when people are saying you are not!
To anyone who reads this, please look at my other Google reviews! I have never given a review less than 5 stars until now! I don't give reviews at all unless a service I have received really stands out and this one did! For all the...
Read moreI originally gave a star rating with no description in this review but since the owner has decided to report me as part of a group supposedly 'giving each one low ranking', here is the description of our visit, today (15th July 2023) at 1pm:
Great menu and lovely atmosphere. However, on our visit we waited an hour for our food to arrive (as did many other patrons), when it did one toastie was made with the incorrect type of bread (we were specifically asked 'white or brown') and the other toastie was completely wrong. It was taken away to be remade. We waited a further 20mins for my replacement toastie to arrive, all the while my friend had finished hers and our shared chips were cold. Finally my goats cheese, black pudding and caramelised onion toastie reappeared, minus the black pudding (!?). This was sent back and promptly rectified and I eventually got what I ordered. Having worked in the hospitality industry for many years I am extremely patient when it comes to waiting a long time for food, or incorrect orders. The problem here was that nobody acknowledged that we had been waiting a very long time and barely any apologies were given throughout our visit (or at least none that felt genuine). We did receive a discount on our bill but we left extremely disappointed with the service given. Hopefully this was a one off but I won't be returning, nor will I be recommending after the response from the...
Read moreWe went because of the GF options, but they did not have the pancakes because "they normally finish quickly". Which simply means that they are shop bought and they keep 5 or 6 in the freezer. I can tell that my GF bread is the Toastie from Genius. So with a food intolerance (may I remind people it is a medical condition?) I pay the same as other customers but I get the cheap GF versions from the supermarket. In many other places these days I am even prepared to pay a bit more if it means it is proper good quality food. I am also not sure they use separate toaster, knives and pans for the GF options.
The cake was good but the Scottish breakfast with the super cheap bread was barely ok.
They are very slow, way too slow for such a wee place. When we were finally paying, the owner asked if we wanted to leave a tip. I just assumed he was joking.
EDIT (in reply to the owner): I have lived GF for almost 20 years, the industry has changed hugely: you can get GF tiger bloomer, sourdough, farmhouse loaf, all sorts. I am not talking about caviar, I am talking about bread! Just because you were the first one to notice you can re-sell cheap bread and pancakes to the coeliacs it does not mean you have to keep doing it. Your GF breakfast is "popular" because people with an intolerance are given very little choice. It may be worth considering this review and improve that choice. Or not....
