Nothing spectacular, just a big hill with a view point at the top which in all fairness you can maybe see a panorama of about 80 foot (broken up) as the trees dotted around in front of you spoil the view. The walk up is steepish but easy though take care on some bits as could be slippy and rockery is scattered on some parts of the path like it's only purpose is to break your ankle. There are benches up there, but on busy days, which is most, don't expect to sit on them as it seems they're only for people to leave their bags on so they can wander round without the problem. Id say if you wanted a walk... Then yes it passes an hour. If you wanted a challenge - it's not for you. And if you wanted the scenery - go somewhere else. It doesn't even boast vast wildlife.

Steady, pretty easy 20 minute climb to Orrest Head viewpoint for a cracking vista the lake and surrounding hills. The route can work as a simple or and back, but we continued on the marked path to Causeway Farm (visible from the viewpoint), left along the lane and then back into pretty woods through St Catherines and back to the starting point. 90 minute round trip, 2.5 miles with 8 and 4 year old children who were able to walk the whole route. Offers all that's great about Lakeland waking for...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem where you must go if you want to enjoy abundance of natural beauty. After you reach here you get a full 360 degree view of Windermere and the surrounding areas. Very serene and peaceful place. It is around 2 km climb from Windermere, not too steep but not very easy either. Actually there's an accessible road though I won't recommend people on wheel chairs to get here, strollers are ok. We went in the morning before breakfast so there wasn't any crowd. Just one note, the views show up only after you reach the spot, not much to admire on the way. Sharing a few pictures that I...
